  • If anyone is interested, I had an itch to scratch so I wrote a little Agile price tracker app for Windows - sits in your tray with the current price, and you can pop a tall window with the future prices listed on it. Its open source on github if you'd like such a thing.

Apparently I have to be around longer (been here for years!) before I'm allowed to post links to github, but search for OctopusAgileNotification by gbjbaanb.

Looking at last month's bill, my figures don't match the Compare app, even after adding 5% tax. Eg 21st Jan, bill says £1.83, app says £2.34
Fairly certain I was on the Nov 22 tariff

    Am I missing something?

Edit: it's the SC that I haven't accounted for

Ok I would start with a basic couple of checks - are you definitely comparing the same dates in the app, and does the total days and volume of energy match?

Exactly, Octopus app shows £ without standing charge.
Octopus Compare app adds the standing charge.

Just switched from BG to Octopus and considering rearranging cooking times to suit Agile and watching TV on the computer (on battery) during peak period, not too much hassle for me. Currently going to be on fixed DD so am I right in assuming that Agile is linked to variable direct debit?
  • I've stayed on a fixed DD since moving from Tracker to Agile

I'm on a fixed DD on Agile. I just change the payment amount, occasionally, to either run down a credit balance or keep myself in the black.

I'm on the old Tracker (ending in a week :( ) and I kept my old fixed DD amount. Just building credit since swapping from SVT not too long ago.

I've been using the Octopus Compare app to weigh up next steps and it looks like Agile may be a pound or two cheaper per week than the new Tracker tariff without changing useage patterns.
  • I'm presently on Octopus agile and i would like to compare it against an E7 tariff but i cannot find an E7 tariff in the Octopus compare app.

Could anybody please point me to the name of the E7 tariff in the Octopus compare app?

There isn’t one on there. I haven’t got the premium version, but perhaps on that you can specify the price for certain hours of the day as there seems to be a “custom tariff” button you can click on..
