When I was on Agile, I used to try to strip out any artificially high usage to give me a more realistic price per kWh for my real world usage monthly totals (but I didn't have the added complication of substituting electricity for gas heating as we are all electric anyway). Normally one wouldn't have two electric ovens running with the doors wide open!

Good point about using more electricity although I've never done anything which wasn't useful: adding hot water, warming the lounge via a heater, batch baking, a cleansing cycle on the washing machine etc.
Agile certainly isn't for the faint hearted or those not in control at home: single occupancy does help! But I'm in credit by 2 and a half months and £70 for all my needs including motoring seems pretty reasonable to me. Fortunately solar does my hot water most of the time so that I have used gas only once since last February.
You can certainly play around with fixes and even benefit if you can get the timing right, but they are adding the cost of risk insurance and successful hedging to the rates. As we have seen companies get it wrong or get caught out and even go bust. I quite like the honesty of Agile in reflecting the current market so that when costs go down you can immediately benefit again. Just to point out that gas Tracker today is 11.53p p/kWh!
I shall be watching the Mid-Terms and the aftermath with interest, as well as the weather forecast!

I'd settle for them actually finishing SOMETHING right now! I have several rooms which just need small bits done so I can clean them up and get stuff moved back in. But they don't seem to work like that… however, I'm running out of space to put stuff and emptying the stuff the decorator needed out of the way this morning was a real challenge. Thankfully the decorator closes doors, so they appear to be following his example…

There certainly isn't a fix I'd got for at the moment, so for us it would be a case of hopping onto SVR until such time as it seems prudent to get back on to Agile again.
The calculations to work out what of our use is "extra" would be unbelievably complex as I'd have to factor the saving on gas for heating (and hot water when it comes to negatives as we use kettle boiled water for washing up etc then too) - and that is not only the heating at the time, but we frequently save on heating later that same day and even sometimes the following morning as the house stays warm enough. More involved than I'm prepared to get I'm afraid!
