... as opposed to quoting each time the full text of the immediately preceding post?
You don't need to quote a whole post. Just an excerpt.

I made use of the cheap slot late yesterday evening to do some prep ahead of tea tonight which should at least help to shorten the cooking time a little. MrEH is wfh today too - which although not ideal (he's needing the heater in the office, although is working it around the cheaper timings and it will hopefully be warmed up by lunchtime) does mean he will be able to boil a kettle and fill a flask before pricing gets silly!

I'm not complaining - we're around £14 up for the month over SVR, not to be grumbled at.

Could we (~~ the moderators) not introduce a post # reference system so that it is obvious which post I am replying to ? !. The thought is not originally mine I confess.
We have a quote button for that. Post numbering gets messed up when people delete a post or threads get merged or split.
The problem with the 'quote button' is when you're replying to the last comment in a long 'to and fro' - your post can run to almost a page!
