  • I am going to go out on a limb here and try some common sense.

Temperature dropped in most of the UK. Demand and supply

Gas pirces have soared 20% in the last 24 hours or so, no idea what has occurred.
A lot of people switched their heating on?  It was quite chilly this morning started to feel Autumnal round my way.
    No idea, its very odd

Yesterday it was hovering around the 93 mark almost all day until it then jumped up to 107 at the close, and its been as high as 112 today

All at odds with the news article below saying prices in Europe have gone down on the back of good news elsewhere:

I came here to post that, too.

I wonder if the above mentioned gas price spike has somehow thrown a spanner in the works?

No because it mainly happened late yesterday before today's auction.

30 min auction prices came out on Epexspot about an hour ago, nothing looks scary in it.
  • They're out now. About 22p average. Could be worse.

Yes - back to normal"ish" after a good week.

Do any of you "Agile old-timers" know if autumn is particularly volatile for UK pricing as we move towards the heating season in fits and starts? I'm new to Agile this year and, other than the occasional unexpectedly windy day, prices have been fairly stable over the summer, but less so now. Or am I reading too much into it?
  • I'm a relative Agile noob, too. I was averaging about 16p/kWh until my6 latest bill, which averaged 18.5p/kWh. I'm hoping the autumn winds will more than outweigh the diminishing solar.

Solar doesn't generate anywhere near as much as people think it does anyway. Even on a mega sunny day it only generates at best 25% at peak, and then the sun goes down. Wind doesn't care if its light or dark.

Wind has generated about 30% of the grid the past 12 months, solar is 5%.

I know. But as an idle OAP I am able to get maximum benefit from the "midday dip", which is the main point of Agile.
