It appears to be something Octopus have done which is affecting the various apps that pull data from them using the API keys. Hopefully they will sort it otherwise it's going to be impossible to check whether we truly have missing data. Last thing I want is my usage being averaged when I'm filling my batteries at cheap or negative rates.
Could be why we are still waiting for our August bill and others I think whilst they sort this out?

What date are you normally billed on? This appears to have happened in the last 3 days.
    The 8th of the month

Nothing to do with the missing slots then. Do you pay by monthly DD?

Variable monthly DD but we have credit of about £200 in the account, that has been the case for the past few months so nothing has changed, just not billed this month. Happy to wait I am throwing in £100 a month anyway as our yearly bill for energy is £1200 (best estimate)

Yes - I think that because the gas price is pretty high at the moment, changes in wind and solar generation are having big impacts on the slots.

    Which bit?

Gas price being high you can see from the tracker prices for example at gastracker.co.uk - the price of gas on the daily tracker rate (latest tariff) has been above the current SVR this week for the first time in a long time (although it's not above what the new SVR will be from 1st November).  You can also find spot rates on various industry sites.

Wind / Solar - for example here:
    Emoncms - app view dashboard

You can see that tomorrow afternoon the wind is getting up at the same time that solar is at maximum generation - this drives predicted low 30 minute slot prices on Agile.

If you wind back a few days you can also see clearly why we got a lot of negative pricing in the latter part of last week.

There is also the Octopus Compare phone app that has a similar chart which also shows general temperature.

Optimal combination in the Summer is if it's very windy, sunny and warm, and it's a weekend day or holiday, between 11am and 3pm which is what happened last week.

In Winter it's more just driven by wind generation overnight when you will get cheap slots overnight.

You can also see on that site that by the current forecast, it looks like we will get some cheap slots this weekend but then more expensive after that.

To get more confused 2-3pm is the cheapest about 5p, but now received an email saying that the 8p slot between 1-2pm is free* 😅

    *free above typical usage

Yes, I've been scratching my head about the logic of that. Still, any cheap/free leccy is welcome. Mustn't look a gift cephalopod in the mouth.
