morning all
have invited the aged p’s and DS and DIL (not official but they live together so may as well) for sunday lunch because ma is getting increasingly forgetful and we are expecting a diagnosis which won’t be good so making memories is the way forward. For us, not her, she forgets.
So now i have to decide what to cook. So i’m stressed. serves me right. i’ll do cauliflower cheese because i like it and i am good at it, (though i says it as shouldn’t) Dil can’t eat brassicas they affect her Crohns, I’ll probably get a big chicken, and i might make a crumble, or bread and butter pudding if i can get eggs. carrots, beans, roast and mash. job done. DD might make tiramisu.
Today i shall tidy up. Done 2 x wm. Bedding which i might get dry between the showers.
Knitting wise i’m on the left front, so good progress made. incidentally can i go and visit a mum and newborn when i’m receiving radiotherapy?

Thank you, round, spring **forward** !!!!!!! I must have been discomnobulated (and probably still am).
The gas engineer arrived just after 9.00 and is joining up the gas supply one bit at at time. I now have holes in 1 exterior and 3 interior walls. I also have a warranty from C@dent saying that they will make everything good and will return as many times as it takes to finish the jobI had to move the table in the utility, so that's another bit of floor that can be cleaned properly before it goes back.
I rushed over to my friend's, and delivered the bag of parcels. Now I've got to stay in until the gas supply is back on, then I might be able to go shopping.
Rosie is currently asleep under the piano stool - she's discomnobulated too. DH has gone back under his duvet, as per usual.
Happy Saturday!5 -
Shopping won't happen today - I need to clean, once we've had lunch, and it would be nice to walk Rosie in the sunshine (if it lasts). The gas engineer has just finished - it has been a more complicated job than he expected - and we have a working boiler and gas fire again. The house is nice and warm again.
Hope your boiler is behaving itself now, round x
Your menu sounds great, Valli. Enjoy the meal together - and don't forget to take some photos for your own memories xx
I need lunch now.5 -

Can’t remember where I got to, but I have done HHI, sorted the shopping, cleaned the bathroom, dusted everywhere (don’t ask me why I forgot the LR, but tough luck, as Dusting Time is over) and vacuumed (remembered the LR this time). Managed to suck the spider plant up the vacuum cleaner. Babies were eaten, parent survived. I nearly cried as I don’t have Pigpen’s spider plant prowess, so it has take me FOREVER to get this plant this far. Proves that I can’t be trusted to fly, really 🤣.
DW on, off to do some rage flingage. If I can be bothered to get enraged about it.5 -
DD initially refused to make dessert. She's now making coffee cake, which my mum loves (as do I). I accepted her initial refusal and just left it...I'm a great believer in 'casting my bread upon the waters' and seeing what happens - so with 0 nagging/persuasion she bit!
We've been to a furniture shop as I wanted a rough estimate for fitted wardrobes, but they are shut so that's that for now, G0 0utdoors as she wanted to buy some trousers for walking and Mr L as i wanted 2 more bags of bark which I cant lift at the moment. I wanted a bag of compost too but they sold. We also popped to dun3lm so I have new salt cellar/pepper mill - i've bee buying the salts but cannot remove the lid for recycling. And I bought a new measuring jug as the other one is chipped and illegible.
Done some knitting. Took back a few rows and reknitted it as i muddled up the SSO row.
Bedding was out on line and has dried.

The girls can gather up their own dirty laundry they are all big enough to use a wash basket.
I might go crazy and do some bedroom tidying tomorrow.

Hi all
Funny old day here. Was up in good time, called at Li@l for a few essentials then went to my Saturday volunteering. Home by 11am to have bacon and eggs then did a bit of baking (dont ask about the biscuits).
Put some clean washing away and sat down with a brew and my library book but then found that I couldnt rouse myself off the sofa to actually do anything else. Weather has been awful, cold with heavy showers.
Sorry to hear about the spider plant Fayolle but there is still hope for more babies.
Feel like I should be doing something useful, but not sure what. Might log in to the online banking and update my spreadsheets.

Lovely lake swim.
Then a real shaggy dog story of a flying afternoon .....deep breath......looked at the shoes I am trying to find a place to store. Decided to look in the wardrobe in the spare room which is sort of overflow/miscellaneous. Sorted through some piles of jumpers. Put some on CS pile. Found one, a favourite, which I hadn't worn for a while as a seam had come undone. I have wool to mend it but hadn't got round to it......Ok I thought, I'm doing it right now. Looked for suitable large needle/bodkin. That led me to a basket of wool which resides in my office (don't ask). Sorted through that, putting it in a deeper but smaller basket so it takes up less room. No bodkin therein but I put all stray knitting needles into their rightful place which is in a pencil-case like thing in the sewing box in the spare room. With me so far? Decided bodkin must be in sewing box so took everything out.....oh my.....having been brought up in a generation of make do and mend, there were lots of small miscellaneous bits of material for possible patching.....binned them. Old sew-on decorative patches....bin. Now I am pleased to report that ALL needles are in one place, ALL pins are in one container, ALL buttons in the ex-oj jar (how did they escape?), cottons are sorted, those with broken reels or very tangled are now in bin - remainder are in their 2 boxes. All elastic, ribbon, bias binding etc now in one bag. Right at the very bottom of the sewing box was a bodkin. Vacuumed out the box and put everything back in. Sewed up the seam of the jumper
Nearly done, start a new paragraph. Went back to the 'jumper shelves', now consolidated so boots can go on a spare shelf. Found a carrier bag full of assorted clothes hangers.....added it to the pile on the spare bed to be sorted and some binned. So now "all" that is left seems to be a box of shoes I'm still thinking about, a basket of rarely-used but useful clothes and - eek - a suitcase of I know not what. I'm exhausted. But other than the 3 aforementioned which, at a push, can go under our bed, the spare room is ready for cleaning and occupancy by BIL on Wednesday.
By way of a break I have checked greenhouse, filled bird feeders, done some drum practice and received 2 phone calls. Oh, and made stuffed peppers for dinner which are now trying out the convection bit of the new microwave/thing. I need to carry on with a bit of a report later, but I think now I need to slob with dinner in front of a film.....oh yes I admit to falling asleep in the conservatory after lunch.
OK you can wake up now, I'm going.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
MorningIt's rainning so the cats are playing chase in the house, inc the bed on their route round, so every 1 to 3 minutes I am being jumped on, before they go racing off.It will be general stuff today, inc delivering an item I have sold to a house about 5 mins down the road, charged them £3 for delivery, it is on the way to the supermarket, so I can kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak.OH's flights did not go to plan, 1st one delayed by 40 mins because of bad weather at arrival airport, so onward flights had left by the time the 1st plane got there, which had a knock on effect. So as I am home alone, I get to select what I eat , I think like Fayolle it is the odd ments in the freezer / cupboards, to make more room.Have a good day all.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles
