Thank you for the lists. Busy day at paid stuff, but this evening I have cooked dinner, cleaned the sink and swept the kitchen floor - almost, ever so slightly, on list! It’s been absolutely miserable here today, so this morning’s early wm load feels pretty much as damp as when it came out of the machine. On the bright side, it does mean that the ironing pile hasn't grown! Funnily enough, when DH was away, the ironing pile was non-existent. I intend to fully delegate ironing once he retires! In fact, he could start practising this week…!
Day off tomorrow, although I have brought home some work to do. I want to bank the time for when DD is home, if work agree. Dreaded dentist in the morning, I think I might have lost a bit of an old filling. Fantastic.5 -
Got to work, having done an errand for work en route and discovered that parcels were being delivered…Friday was the day selected for delivery but i was in, and i was just in the process of explaining to a co-worker (people pay to work in part of our building and that’s part of my job) why someone might be banging on the door when i spotted the DHL van so all good and i have a new work laptop so worked on my old one while simultaneously setting up my new one.
Came home. have knitted the back of the baby cardigan.

Morning all. Hope you're all ok today.
I have no excuse not to fly this morning so I'll report back later with progress.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Morning all.
Up with the lark - sort of. I find it easier to get up and at ‘em when it is daylight. Do sloths hibernate? I’m pretty sure they don’t but I will defer to my learned fellow sloths, Narc0 and Round 😊. Otherwise maybe I am part sloth, part hedgehog.
So far - DH shuffled out of the door to work, bedding changed waiting to go in the wm, bed remade, hair tamed, HHI done to clear the pile, clean washing sorted, seedlings on various window ledges given a stern talking to.
Next up - s&s bathrooms, maybe even vacuum the hair up off the bedroom floor. Breakfast would also be a good idea.
Have a good day all x6 -
The following is done: admin, dog walk, bedding changed, dry washing away, bathrooms s&sd, dusted of a fashion in living room and bedroom, fruit salad made, dailies.Spend less now, work less later.6

Good afternoon,
I am struggling a bit with the lists. I work a night shift every Sunday night, so Mondays are generally a day of no energy and minimal jobs. But everyone is home over the weekend and there are jobs to catch up on too. So, Tuesday is catch up day, and a paid work day. For the past three weeks the kitchen jobs have fallen on a Monday which means only minimal jobs have been done, and for the past two weeks living room, hall, and stairs, have fallen on a Tuesday. They are my busiest and most used areas. Does this happen every few weeks? How do you cope with the catch ups? Or do the jobs come round often enough to catch up on them in subsequent weeks?
I have a combined living room diner. If you follow the lists do you do the dining area one day, and the lounge area another? Or do you do it all in one go?
I am interested to know if you still follow the lists, or if you make your own lists.4 -

Howdy, Flyfriends, and Happy New Year! According to Google, today is Nowruz, the Iranian/Persian new year, based on the vernal equinox according to the Iranian Hijri calendar. (You learn something new every day
) I just know that my garden is beginning to look cheerful with daffs, hyacinths and even a couple of early tulips
Christmasshopper, if you're finding the lists too much, it's might be because you are trying to do everything. They are only suggestions - you can adapt and prioritise the list (or write your own from scratch) to fit the time available / the layout of your house / your most urgent jobs / your most urgent jobs / whatever you actually feel like doing. Personally, I gave up trying to follow these lists almost as soon as I joined this group, and I have days when I achieve a lot of Flying and other days when I do almost none. You could ease up on Mondays and Tuesdays and just do a general tidy-round - a tidy(ish) house always looks cleaner than one which is in a mess, even if you haven't actually cleaned! And if you're stuck for ideas on other days, take a look back at previous lists - there is a link near the start of each new thread. Better to spend ten minutes on in-your-face mess than an hour on polishing. We all have our own ways of Flying, and everyone finds the way that suits them best. You're no less welcome here if you do your own thing x
I slept for 8 hours last night, and this morning the sun is shining, so I have actually flown:
- flung open the bedroom windows for half an hour, as I woke up hot
- checked finances
- ate breakfast (prepared by DH), S&S'd the kitchen, tidied up DH's pile of magazines and other post so that I could see the tablecloth
- showered, dressed, and S&S'd the bathroom
- made my bed, cleared the chairrobe
- sorted WMx4, and so far have done 3 loads and hung out the larger items such as T-shirts on hangers and towels - it's the first time for ages that my shoulder has stopped hurting for long enough to do so [reaches for another dose of parrots]
- ran the hoover over the utility because I trod in some mud on my boots
- portioned up and wrapped some bulk-buy meat for the freezer while I was waiting for one WM load to finish
- nearly finished off a froggy job on the computer that I started about 4 weeks ago: it *will* be done this afternoon! [ETA: It's now 3.30 and it's done!]
DH has just come home from SW so I had better go and see what sort of a mood he is in and whether he needs feeding.... See you later xxx

Don't try.. it gets easier with time as things aren't so bad and take less time to sort. I sent 12 hours tidying my kitchen.. now it takes 20-30 minutes.. much quicker. There are a few ways to complete the lists..
I usually write my own lists because I have random stuff in there.. and if stuff gets crossed of the main list then.. yay! I copy the weekly list into a post on the first page usually and cross stuff off because even if I am not following the list to the letter I do the stuff and it is rewarding to cross it off.. It looks like I have actually done things.
I have my grandbeast today so vacuuming his crumbs later, the WM is on the DW I will do while doing dinner along with pack ups and anything else is a plus, a miracle or simply not happening.
The other way is to use last weeks list.. take the whole list and do what you can over the days you have.. I skip childrens room days, I don't have a dining room and I S&S the kitchen and bathroom when I can so they don't take long which means I can spend extra time in the hallway or the back room and i hate doing the living room so that gets blitzed when I can be bothered. My kitchen has the dining table in so when I sweep, I sweep it all.. I wipe the table as I clear it while loading the DW so it is not a separate job it is the same job. I do the hallway and stairs when I do the backroom and the landings gt done separately because they are a days work in themselves.
Trial and error until you find the way which suits your household.. it looks like the latter suggestion would be best.. give it all a whirl and see how your home fares..
