Thank you YL xx
Oh well. That's one way to save money. My boiler has broken down! Again! I thought it was a bit nippy, so went to check. I've repressurised it but it's still not firing up. I'll ring the housing association repairs tomorrow - it's classed as an emergency so they should come out same day.
I knew I was too calm 🤣. Something had to happen! Although tbf I'm tutting more than freaking out. Sigh.
I feel a curious sense of solidarity with iona 🥰
Tomorrow is another day. Oh. I said something similar this morning 🤣
See you in the morning. Night night.

More in solidarity than you might have thought, round - we also have no heating on tonight. The supervising engineer said that the team were well ahead of schedule with work today, so they would start replacing our gas pipes immediately (3.30 pm) with a view to getting the supply turned back on by 8 pm. It didn't happen - they found kinks, unexpected bends and even blocked Ts along the line of the pipe, with the result that they had to dig two holes in the path and one in the lawn before they could get the new pipe through the old one. The new meter is going on the outside of the house, and I dread to think how many holes they will need to drill in order to get the supply pipe to join up with the boiler and gas fire. Someone is coming "first thing" in the morning...
I emptied the cupboard under the stairs and one side of the back porch and have swept up the mess of the rug in the utility.
Off to bed now. See you in the morning xxx5 -
Sorry for those struggling with utilities, hope the snow and cold don't make your lives worse.
I wrote a huge list yesterday to do today. It isn't complete, but I haven't done badly:
- one load of washing done
- went for a run. Have been fretting about not fitting a birthday ParkRun in this year; it had become a bit of a tradition since doing my first one as a 60th target. However in the last year lake swimming has occupied the same slot and guess which I prefer? But on looking at the map, there is a ParkRun in a NT property near where we are staying in Norfolk next week, so I may tackle it; it will only be a couple of weeks early. So frantic practice needed!
- sorted several 'flagged' emails.
- paid for another 6 sessions of lake swimming.
- paid for next term's drumming
- did some drum practice
- took car to MOT. While I was waiting for it, I organised and checked scores of the next 3 assessments to write up so I can send their exam adjustments off on Monday.
- went to Mr T
- went to C£rry's as our microwave has packed up. Managed to be both female and feeble (to get lads to load it into the car) as well as female and persuasive (getting a whole £2.50 off after I pointed out that it was 1% cashback if I drove home, ordered it online and came back to the same shop tomorrow to collect it).
- put in my name to the ballot for tickets to go round the gardens at Downing Street
- nearly finished another report
So, I haven't finished sorting out shoes for their new home in the wardrobe but yesterday I threw out 4 pairs!! In general since the new wardrobes went in, I have been very good about putting clothes away, hence much less bedroom tidying needed.
Have a good weekend everyone, enjoy the lovely daffodils everywhere.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Morning all. Hope you're all ok and managing to keep warm.
I'm up early even though it's not a work day and no grand babies are here. DH is still in bed but today Poppet is going to the dog sitter and we're having a couple of days going out. We might go to the coast and the cinema. Freedom!
I really haven't had any motivation for flying this week so will try harder next week.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Morning all xx
I woke up at 5.45 am. Wide awake. Exactly the thing for a not-work-today day. Not! Maybe it was practice for BST 🤔 I played on my phone until nearly 7.30 - which felt like a more civilised hour to get up on a Saturday morning.
I've made my bed and sploshed bleach down the loo, brought down the laundry hamper and made my first brew. Oh that rhymes 🤣
iona - thinking about you. I hope you have heating of some sort and that the gas supply is soon sorted. I'm assuming they'll continue to work today? I do hope so.
Call me Mario. Or Luigi. I got my boiler working- for now, but 'for now' will do.. erm, for now. The power of Google! There must be an underlying problem for it to have lost pressure in the first place - mustn't there? 🤔 But that's a problem for another day. That may be a blinkered view but I'm going with it. For now 😉
Another brew and breakfast. Get dressed. Then I'll be back with a Round. Or 2.
Live totally - well I actually typed Love to all - but 'live totally' seems appropriate 😅. (Subliminal sausage fingers 🤣)

Morning Jazee and everyone. I was awake at 5.30 but made a cuppa and went back to bed (twice) before getting up properly.
Thankfully it's not been too cold overnight here, and the sun is shining brightly now. Boiling a kettle to have a wash was a throwback to my childhood in a house with no mains electricity or gas - I even remembered to use the tepid water from my hot water bottle, rather than the cold stuff from the taps, to cool down the boiling water sufficiently for a quick cat-lick (as my mother used to call it). And of course there's the trick of putting your clothes in the bed to warm (cover them with the duvet) when you get out of it. I think we shall have hot porridge for breakfast, too. No sign of the gas engineers yet.
Today's plan was to deliver the Easter gifts for two of my godchildren who live about 10 miles away to another of the godparents who lives local to me, as she is visiting them today. I'd also like to go shopping, and I need to go to the PO, but I may end up cleaning up after the workmen and (hopefully) persuading DH to declutter some of his old jackets. Rosie will also want a walk.
See you later. Don't forget to change your clocks tonight - spring back! xxx6 -
Noooo iona. Spring forward. Fall back.

Morning all,
Sorry, another awol-er here. Not sure why, I just can’t get my backside kicked into touch after a day at the paid stuff these days. Not that I have quite Round’s challenges in the workplace, it has to be said. I do manage to put the kitchen to bed after cooking dinner, and I do love making a good meal plan as well, so that usually happens. Maybe BST is the time to get myself back on track, and try to Live Totally…is this the new flylady motto?
So today…DH is off shortly for most of the day to visit family, both alive and dead iyswim. This evening we are out to friends for a catchup. In between, I have no excuses to get my act together, apart from the distraction of both my knitting and a nearly finished book.I hope that those with heating supply issues get sorted out soon. It’s a blustery day here (making an effort to channel my inner Pooh, rather than my Eeyore 😊), and has just finished pelting it down with rain. Another perfect excuse not to get started on the allotment for this year.First Round 😉:
actually switch on the loaded wm, second cuppa and get dressed. Hmmm maybe this is where I go wrong!
I’ll be back later - anyone up for company and a cuppa? x5 -
Park run in Norfolk
I'll be the FL cheering crew team leader!!
Airport run done, so lovely to have a local airport, that is open and has some flights. So I have a week alone, not too sure what I am doing, but things like, walking, gutter power washing, car cleaning, sorting out BD card for one of the new grandson's, no idea what this child likes, so it will be a generic type card and ££.Very blustery here, and raining on and off.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Oohh, maybe the flylady bus can take a day trip to cheerlead the Norfolk park run. Someone get Round a map, will they??
Round 1 done. Not so onerous, basically I am dressed and the wm is on 🤣.
Round 2: sort out remains of Thursday's Mr M delivery which DH has nicely displayed all down the middle of the DR table. There is a new career in retail somewhere in there for him. HHI. Talk to seedlings - looks like another dismal year in the veg self sufficiency before I’ve even got going.5
