  •  Until the 24th comes, I will not know 100%, but it may be worth contacting TSB to check.
Why would you know if all OK on 24/03?
On 24/03 is I was going to check with them all looked ok and yes I know the cashback is 21/04 when I will be 100% about the 100% :-) Anyway, I have also asked them just now and they confirmed my acount is in order to receive the incentive.

It's quite clear from the T&Cs that you need two active* direct debits on the donor account that you switch to TSB by 24th March in order to get the £125. Setting them up after the switch doesn't seem to be compliant with the T&Cs to me and so I wouldn't be surprised if they reject any complaints.

You then need two active direct debits on the TSB account from April to September to get the £75. It's not clear that these need to be same direct debits as from the donor account / switch.

*Definition of active direct debit remains unclear but your safest bet is that you have two direct debit references (i.e. not one direct debit paying twice weekly; two separate direct debits) that show in your donor account's online banking and ideally have already paid at least once before instigating the switch.

It's a while since I did this one but my understanding is that you have to have the 2 direct debits already set up on the account you're switching from and they must switch across to the new TSB account.
I went further and made sure that the two DDs had paid out on the doner account prior to switching. Probably overkill but I can't find a definitive answer as to what constitutes an "active direct debit" so went full belt'n'braces.
You're not the only careful/paranoid one, I did exactly the same for the last Santander switch bonus. Set up Paypal and Plum on the donor account and made sure they pulled deposits on each before starting the switch. Also timed two other deposits to ensure they'd be leaving the Santander account post-switch, although that *was* probably overkill.

I’ve done the same, I’m sure it was part of the Santander T&Cs that the DDs still had to be active at the point of the 60 day check
  • Is this offer now closed?  It's still showing on their webpage but it says you need to have applied by 03/03/23.
  • "£125 cashback To qualify for £125 cashback you must do all of the following: Between 1 February 2023 and 3 March 2023 you must: 1. apply for a new TSB Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account through tsb.co.uk, the TSB Mobile Banking App or in Branches."

It appears the offer has closed.

  • Ok so I have called TSB for clarification on the DD instruction.  I was told that as long as I have 2 DDs set up and showing on my account I am entitled to the bonus :)

They don't need to have paid out by the 24th just be present and set up and this can be done after the switch.  Happy Days!!!!!

They advised me the direct debits need to be in place at the time of the switch not after.
