I think you need the debit card number for the switch application. It has been the case for all the switches I've done about six including the Halifax.

Experienced switchers suggest to wait for the card rather than get the number from an app.

Just to say I've switched a couple of Everyday Current Accounts from Santander and they have been very good at sending the card etc.

I asked them recently about the requirement for a a debit card number to be able to submit the application. In my case, I had an expired Visa card for the account I wanted to switch, & it hadn't been replaced (because I hadn't used it for ages.)

Halifax said: You would need to have an active debit card to complete the online switch form, I'm afraid. Just to clarify, did your bank issued a replacement card when your current card expired? If not, and your bank have confirmed that this was the last card that was issued for your account, then you can apply to complete the switch over the phone by calling our Switching team on: 0345 602 5293 (open 9am - 6pm Monday - Saturday).

I realise this is diverting slightly from your waiting-for-the-card situation, but Halifax's phone option might be useful for anyone wanting to switch with only an expired debit card.

How long after completing to halifax, would you wait to switch back out to natwest?
I doubt i'll earn the £5 a month reward at halifax, so the £3 a month at natwest plus £200 switch seems the best account for me atm(excluding chase).

Once you’ve received the incentive payment there’s no requirement for you to stay, so are free to switch away whenever you like - if the switch has gone through without any problems then you should be ready to go from the same day it completes if you really want.

My switch is due to complete tomorrow (Tuesday) but I haven't had my £175 yet      Hopefully it'll be on its way soon.
