Anyone know how easy it is to downgrade the account to a basic halifax acciunt after £175 received? Ca  it be done in the app?

Yep, can be done in the app.

Anybody know the debit card number from account you are switching to Halifax is mandatory? I've opened an account with santander (already an account holder) to switch for the £175 but not received card as yet & when wife did her switch they asked for it. Just wondered if it's needed to complete the switch?

There may be an option to say "no debit card for account being switched" (can't remember) but I've heard that it may cause problems later if a card has been issued for this account (rather than it being an account that never had a card). You've got until Monday for the card to turn up, if no sign then risk it.

there isn't an option, they want the last five digits before they "green tick" you. just checked the Santander app and annoyingly it only shows the last 4 digits of each card.

Just seen on app, but only 4 digits 🙄 will keep fingers crossed it turns up, failing that take a punt. Think they only need them for recurring payments from the card (which there are none).

Can't see on app, Halifax needs expiry date as well, will keep fingers crossed it turns up, failing that take a punt. Think they only need them for recurring payments from the card (which there are none).
Might just need the card details for verification purposes (how else do they know you own the switching bank account). It's not for recurring payments, these aren't moved as part of CASS.

I had a different switch fail because I gave the card number but hadn't activated the card.

This isn't quite the circumstance as the question being asked, but to reverse it, maybe if card activation is required, but you haven't, maybe it will be valid to say there isn't one
