Thanks Arrietty, thats a lot of no shows!

I always find something to do! Usually start with sorting my diary and then giving my equipment a thorough clean, plus a cuppa.

Clinic was good today, not amazingly busy, my numbers have dropped off a little, this is mostly due to the age of my clients :(  Where i was in the chemist before I had a large poster in the window and this provided a regular stream of new patients 1 or 2 a month, but I moved clinic a couple of years ago and not had many new ones. So I need to do something like this if the salon would let me use the window!! But I will wait untill my DD has finished her exams as there are a couple of weeks in May where her exams are on a monday and I need to drive her to the exam centre. Plus we have 2 bank hols in May!!

With it being a nice bright afternoon down here I managed about 2 hours in the garden, and DS2 offered to help, which was lovely, neither of us felt like digging up the hedge, so we weeded 3 veg beds and DS2 emptied one of the cmpost bays onto 2 of the beds. I planted up the onion sets (red and white this year) and some garlic ~ bit late, but should come through ok. The potatoes are out and chitting. So, pleased with progress especially as its a monday, i am usually resting in the afternoon after work!

  • Hi, just delurking to say you must charge for missed appointments. My OH is a driving instructor and makes it clear before taking on a new pupil that if 24 hours notice is not given for a cancellation they will be charged. They usually only do it once . Obviously exceptions can and are made, lately for things like getting covid but otherwise not. I think initially it was quite hard and lots of people got a chance for the first time etc but as with you it means others can't be booked in to that slot and OH has a waiting list for lessons. I wish you lived nearer me as I know 3 people who are currently looking for a chiropodist as one is closing her business locally due to having to now care for her Mum.They are very thin on the ground round here. Luckily I am able to access the NHS service but even so I generally have to wait longer than I would like for an appointment.
    Take care

Thank you @Liverpool_Anne i really appreciate you delurking to comment. You are absolutely right and I would expect it if I had an appointment myself for my feet, or anything really, 24 hours is common decency to let someone know so they can fill the space. Im just a bit too soft, my lot are elderly, most very elderly and forgetful!. Ithink its time to make an A4 sign to pop in the clinic as a visual reminder! Its not really a problem for home visits as they are mostly always at home! You are very fortunate to still be able to get a podiatrist on the NHS, those apps are very few and far between down here, almost impossible!

    Tuesday Smoozeday,
Been taxi-ing DD this morning home visit this afternoon followed by an hour in the garden to weed the strawberry patch, it was an overgrown mess. It is now looking better, but not finished, I ran out of steam.
Jacket pots, sausages and beans for tea ~ I love a nice and easy tea!

I had an email from HRMC to say my tax account was ready to view so logged in and they say I have over paid. I am v confused because they have already paid some money back into my account in Jan, now saying i have £770 overpayment and they having been paying me interest on it!!. Annoyingly I cant see a complete list of payments due/ and payments made and payment paid back to me. The amount they paid back before was a bit less than this, so Im thinking its not the same amount. I just dont want to take it to only find out that they got it wrong and want it back!!! ANyway I have asked for it to be repaid and ill pop in my my tax pot and see what happened when I do my year end accounts in April / May. if it is still extra, Ill pop it in my pension pot.

Tonights job is trying to book the holidays ....

  • Morning @~FlowerPot~ I agree you should charge for missed appointments. Re the food budget, that is very low ours is £500 (only since being back here before that I was spending WAY more) and I find it a real challenge in meal prep, meal planning and batch cooking to actually bring it in on £500 and less. I have 4 adult portions here, 2 adults, one very tall teen boy (14) and one smaller teen girl (15)....tall boy eats everything and anything and costs a fortune to feed and smaller girl eats like a bird at dinner time- however she empties the fridge and snack cupboard and fruit bowl every other time. It is really expensive to eat these days, i recall the days when my eldest was a boy and I could feed us both on £25 pretty well :joy: bring back those days eh!
I've also done my garden lately getting it up to scratch as it has been neglected for the most part because home renovations kinda took over everything. Hope you have a lovely day
    MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. May 1st, £116, 123, June 1st, £115,536, New mortgage added for extension- £165,000 July 1st!

    Mortgage Overpayments - September-December, £152.46. Jan £103.27, Feb £115, March £91.50, April £100, May £200, June £200. July £200.
    Total- £1162.23
Goal to pay off 1% of current mortgage in one year. £1200. (96.83% there)

ooh where are you going on holiday?
I have my fingers crossed the tax figures are right, but it will still in my account until I have done next years accounts and then ill know for sure! It will make me file my accounts much sooner!!

    Very exciting news,
Booked the eurostar fit my mums surprise birthday trip. Although i think i might have to tell her soon ish because if getting travel insurance! I need to find out by stealth if she has one of these year round ones, i kniw she used to!
Then we also booked the flight for our summer holibobs, it's going to be a2 part trip to the classical world
    🏛️🏟️😂😂😂
Rome and Athens. DH and i have never been to either and DD has lived studying classical civilization and how to study it at a level so it seemed a good idea to visit!
Have yet to book the accomodation. The flight took all my envelope sruffing money but it felt take good to be able to pay a substantial part of the holiday (well DH popped it on the CC for safety and he has the money to pay it off when it comes through)
    I can't wait!

It's very similar here with the food. Basically 5 adult portions and quite oftern 6. DS1 will eat everything ask the time. Like you DD is very picky but still consumes ask the snacks and fruit. Ds 2 is coeliac so that adds a whole nother level of cost!
I tried to bring up the subject at the weekend, but it didn't go down very well. I will try again, we need a better system and also need to get back into menu planning and shipping 2 weekly as that definetly saves us a lot of money. 💰💰

  • Would local GPs allow you to put flyers in their surgery? Also look at advertising on local social pages, for the area you have clinic and areas you travel to. It's worth making enquiries, joining the different groups and preparing adverts ready for after May. Or even advertising your clinic and saying you've capacity to take on a few more clients.

Ask mom if she found the price / cover of annual insurance good as you're planning a couple of trips over the next year, also if she has a referral code from her current ins as sometimes they do intro discount for new people and discount on her renewal.
Alternatively, as it's so cheap just buy a one-off for you both, assuming you know her medical history.

Fingers crossed the refund is correct.

Well done tackling the garden. Better weather is coming, bringing more daylight.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
