Saving lots in pots!

Happy new years eve! 
I seem to have sunk into staying in bed and scrolling in my phone since xmas!
I need to get up and get going! 
Need to get some doing in, it's going to be mexican buffet type food this evening. We don't tend to stay up, but do like to have a nice meal. 
So - shopping ~ DONE
Drive DH to the fish shop and help DH with water change. ~DONE
Accounts, would like these up together ready for the new year. 
Work cases need cleaning, plus need to order some supplies. 
Then if time need to get website going for healing work!

not doing very well on my list today. I have spent about 3 hours trying to decide on what to do with my mum for her 80th birthday. Im one of 3, but my older sister is no longer with us and my brother is useless and lives away. SO its down to me and Ive decided to take her away for her birthday weekend to Paris. I went to paris when I was a studying Alevels and always wanted to go back! Am hoping we can do the lovely art galleries inparticular the lourve and the muse d'orsay. I have some money from a pot thats been kept seperate. But I will need to add to it and sort tickets and travel ins. She was very excited when I asked her to block her diary out. She has no idea we're going abroard.

Happy New Year!!

I'm hoping 2024 is going to be a smashing year and looking forward to completing lots of savings goals, a couple of holidays and getting more sorted in the house and garden.

I have done a big clean in the lounge and taken all the decs down. I have also moved a rather large pile of wood chunks ~ heavy ones to another pile where DS2 is chopping them up for firewood. The tree surgeons neatly piled them, but they were on my spring boarder and the bulbs are already beginning to come up, so they all needed moving.

Ive also made a list of 24 jobs to do in Jan over on the decluttering thread. I think this will be much more motivating than my attempt last year to work through the house 1 room at a time!

meant to say that I won £5 on a xmas scratch card and my mum gave me her winnings of £2, so this 7 will go on one of the challenges. yey!

Hi FlowerPot I like reading your diary. What a lovely idea for your mum's birthday! Not sure if you've booked your stay in Paris yet, just wanted to remind you they are hosting the Olympics this year so hopefully the dates don't clash as could prove to be v expensive or just nothing available!

Hi there Time2count, thank you so much for commenting on my diary. I hadnt realised about the olypmics until i had already kinda decided on Paris. I think it will still be ok as we would be going about 2 weeks before they start. and hotel rooms are not booked up. But I was wondering alot yesterday whether actually it would just be too crazy busy in the build up?? Not sure. i dont know where the actual olypic village is or where the main events are being held?! It could be quite fun and lively with the buzz of whats going to happen, or it could be worth considering somewhere else? Barcelona was also on my list!

hi Baron Dale, thank you I hope 2024 is a great year for you too. My pots are not exactly where I would like them, Ill do a round up on friday. However overall I am v happy with all i acheived last year. Onwards and upwards for 2024, I am hoping for greater things. I didnt start the drive to get my savings in shape until about March / April time so Im hoping this year will be even better

morning 3rd Jan already!

We purchased a new microwave last night. (it was on my January to do list!)I the old one was very old when we inherited it from my FIL and he died 8 years ago, the inside was rusty and the turn part had stopped working, so it really was time. DH spent 20 odd minutues measuring every micowave in the store and then still bought one that overhung the shelf it has to sit on! So shelf extender had to be made, thankfully we had some wood. I left DH and DS2 to it and sat with a cuppa !!! But it is now installed and DH tested it out by reheating some xmas pudding!!

Biggest job to finish today and tomorrow is DDs EHCP review which is needing hours of reading and amending. Then I might try and tick off a coupld more jobs, i keep scanning through my list to find the quickest wins ~ cleaning the oven definetetly isnt one of them!! I wonder if i can delegate that to one of the kids!

Haha I think our 'children' are similar ages and getting them to clean the oven is probably impossible! 😂
