friday round up time ~ and its about time!!

    bit deprressing, but
car pot was 0 ~ just restarted so now its £21
Health pot is 0 ~ need to rebuild this as i have dental work to be done for ££££ !
xmas fund 2023 (from the 365 1p challenge has £160 left, but still some cash withdraw and pop in an envelope)
xmas fund 2024 ~ go me ive started this and have £75 here already!!
pension ~ popped £100 across early December, but need to restarted the weekly SO ~DONE £15 popped across
EF fund is ~ £1489 ~ need to restart the SO here as well. ~DONE £35 popped across
Tax pot has also been raided ~ when will i learn! but this shouldnt be to much of a problem, as less is needed this year.
MMOP ~ £30 popped across yesterday from prolific and another £15 from fleabay

I like using this savings thread as I really is helping me to be accountable.

Having checked my account this morning to see the SOs and which needed re starting I had a lovely surprise of a nice big payment for DLA for DD which has obviously been approved, although they havent not been in contact to inform me!!!  So Ive moved this across and it will help no end with petrol for driving her to her lessons and the tutors fees, very pleased. about this!

Sounds like things are going in the right direction and glad that the DLA came through even if they hadn't written to you, as that's a nice surprise.

    Greatfull this morning

    A gorgeous sunrise this morning
I lovely cup of hot coffee this morning while everyone esle is sleeping !!!

  • If DS is unable to work, obtain fit notes from GP and get that UC claim started; needs to formally withdraw from course.
    - Think you're already sorted with DL@ / P1P?

You'll get a letter in the post over the next few weeks confirming DLA details, it's always slow at being received.

Prioritise a couple of budgets for car / medical bills and try not to bite off more than you can chew and budget based on worst income; extras can get apportioned.

Ask hubby to send money to you each month for savings, if you've got to do it yourself so it happens so be it!
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

thanks moving faorwards ~ I received 3 letters today all about the DLA so I now know the amount, so thats all good. As for DS1, your right I will have to conisder what to do. But we'll wait till jan Feb time and see if there is any chance he will try and get a job / manage to work. I am hopeful he could do something part time, but its getting started and finding somewhere that would be suitable and supportive!!

very sensible advice about the budget, I need to take note. i rend to get over excited and jumpt in with too many goals/ challenges!
DH wont send me money to save,! but im going to try and encourage him to save for something specific, a holiday would be good !!!! :D  Or maybe abit aside each month which could then go on the mortgage if not needed at the end of the year!

    Challenges for 2024

    1. EF  increase to £3000 ~ so thats £1500
    2. ISA add £1000
    3. 52 week envelope challege £1340
    4. 365 1p saving challenge £690
    5. sealed pot
    6. prolific £60 a month, £720 for the year (to go straight onto the mortgage)
    7. Mortgage overpayment challenge £5000 ~ the vast amount will be from DH as he already O/P £240 a month. So we should have £3600. Will need to find / sell stuff to make up the difference of £1400
    8. Pension money ~ mininum £600 (this year was much higher due to side hustle and Im not sure how that will go next year
    9. Build car pot to £500 mininum Other pots also need building up if possible!!
I think this should be doable looking at what I have managed this year. But it can be a little stresfull when I have weeks that are v slow/ or if im ill.

  • I would personally still go for UC sooner as it's a 5wk wait before monies are paid.

Use interest paying savings accounts, the interest could go towards savings pots or your mortgage O/Ps. One of my accounts allows 'pots' so I just pick which pot I'm paying into.

Reduce ambitions a bit and exceed them when it's possible, helps limit your pressure.
