Escape to the country & living off savings

Thanks SQS. I think lasagne is a Friday favourite as it tastes extravagant at the end of the working week and is easy to cook.I am going to get back on my lower carb eating to try and keep my diabetes under control. I might have a go at making a lasagne with either leeks or courgettes sliced length ways instead of pasta & garlic mushrooms instead of garlic bread. This morning it’s sunny but no wind blowing so will probably not dry washing on the line. I have had half the pack of 28p pigs in blankets with 2 eggs & tinned tomatoes for breakfast.I have received my house insurance renewal and it has gone down!! I phoned DL just to make sure it was correct 😆 No change to cover, price down from £256.48 to £218.40. I will get some more quotes later today.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Fab news on the home insurance - ours went up by almost £40 and we could only find it £15 less so haggled that off but was a bit annoyed to be paying £250 still! We shoulda gone w DL like you but run out of time with family visiting over holidays etc. At least that’s my excuse so I’ll stick to it 🤣🤣
pigs in blankets for brekkie! 😋😋
EDIT to add that several of our neighbours have flooded this year - we are extremely fortunate that we are on high ground but I’m thinking that those flooding claims will have increased insurance premiums for our area. Which is completely understandable really and the whole point of insurance - to shoulder the load.Lancashire

Feeling very out of sorts today. What should have been a day of rest has been spent on phone to arg0s and DL 😕
Curtain pole ordered and paid for online should have been available for collection from 9am this morning. It wasn’t. Awful phone system finally got to speak to someone & was told problems with warehouse and would be available later in the day. Within minutes of phone call ending I got a text to say my order was cancelled. 😡
Finally got through on phone again but no help or explanation.Struggling to get house insurance quotes. How am I supposed to work out if house is 400m from the river. DL do not ask this but online quote is £168 as a new customer despite phone advisor stating they have already sent me their cheapest price £218.Went out with DF to b n q for bits for fitting my dishwasher on Monday. Weather was lovely and sunny but couldn’t settle back at home. Tried to watch tv, tried to read. Ended up snoozing. Will phone DL again tomorrow. My old school friend’s mum is 80 next week. They are having a party tomorrow in the village hall & I have been invited. Buffet lunch provided, bring your own booze. I have a bottle of asti leftover from Christmas pressie so I may go along for a while. I have offered to help with making sandwiches so will see if I am needed in the morning0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

It's so annoying that everything we do these days seems to have to be checked then double checked & like you say takes forever & is really wearing ..I used to love all the little deals I did but find it all too much hassle now , like getting blood out of a stone with most companies these days!
Sunday village hall party sounds lovely, have fun !1 -
Thanks SQS, I do feel more myself today. 😊I agree thriftylynny. I hate car / home insurance renewal time! The curtain pole arrived at store today so went & picked it up. DF offered to come round and fit it tomorrow.I also had 2 more calls to DL about house insurance. They insist that they had sent me the best quote first time £218, but online they are claiming to be 10% cheaper than their own phone quotes. When I did an online quote as a new customer it was £168 😳😳😳 I phoned them and went through the quote over the phone to make sure I hadn’t made a mess of it but they confirmed it matched my renewal info. Then after the call I decided to go ahead as a new customer and the online quote I had saved had disappeared!! Thankfully I had an email confirmation and when I called them again they found it and I paid over the phone. Will wait for paperwork to arrive by post & check it again. Things like this really stress me out!!Had a very enjoyable relaxing afternoon. Helped with the food & clearing up at the end. Had some lovely buffet food and me & my friend drank a bottle of asti and a bottle of prosecco between us 🤪 I was also given a plate full of food & cake to bring home & my friend & her husband dropped me off in the car (he didn’t drink) which saved me walking back down the hill in the dark ☺️Have been snoozing on the sofa since I got back 😂 I am such a lightweight with drink 🍹 Tucked up in bed now with a cup of tea 😆0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Glad you got the curtain pole and house insurance sorted out.... but what a palaver! I seem to spend a LOT of time complaining that technology was supposed to make life easier, whereas in reality it's made it 100 times more complicated for the end user!It sounds as though you had a lovely afternoon, I'm so pleased that you've settled in. (((hugs))) to you and your Dad (I think he's wonderful) XXXI Believe.....

Aw thanks @Chrystal DF is definitely a superstar 🤩
The most annoying thing about the curtain pole is that I paid for the original one and when they cancelled the order I had to pay for a second one. It will take up to a week for the first one to be refunded!Hopefully the dishwasher will arrive without any hassle tomorrow 🤞0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Better luck with the dishwasher delivery & lovely DF gets it up & running.1
