We ended up going in the opposite direction, to the marina & outlet shopping mall where we got a table overlooking the water. Lunch time special 2 courses £16.49 then we pottered round the shops. On the way home I ended up buying a builders black bucket for DS 🤣 99p in Hbargains, so together with the drain snake £10.99 at least he’s now sorted his drains and they are finally clear! They never blocked up when I lived there 😉

Yesterday it poured with rain. I popped into mr T and got a pair of jeans reduced from £25 to £16 with an extra 25% off at the till with club card they were £12!

Then I went for a walk with same friend as yesterday and we got a coffee (in mcD’s £2.49 and tea for me £1.29). We used to do this when I lived here as it’s a good 20-30 min walk each way and cheaper than cost-a-lot ☺️

Tomorrow I’m out for Sunday lunch with DS & gf before they go on holiday. I’m meeting with another friend on Monday and some old work friends on Wednesday. All of them I’ve known since DS was born so over 30 years.

Lovely warm sunny day yesterday with a nice breeze. Walked to the shop & bought a reduced wrap and walked to the pond & sat on a bench to eat my lunch. Then walked onto the playing field and had a look round the car boot sale and had an ice cream (£1.50) bought a toy car for nephew his favourite 🐾 patrol 50p, last of the big spenders me 🤣

Did a bit of chopping and weeding in the garden with DS then it got too warm so I came in and had a snooze. Enjoyed an early evening walk with DS’s gf and the dogs

interest update 1 Sept total from all instant access pots & regular saver £105.46 paid into current account for holiday spending/ petrol home. Living off savings account interest £6.65, left in account.

Lovely Sunday walk with the dogs then out for lunch with DS & gf. We went to a lovely country pub and had roast beef and all the trimmings, one bowl of pigs in blankets plus 3 drinks £65. Was a bit expensive but nice to treat them.

This morning I was up at 4am to drive them to the station. I am now official nanny dog sitter 🤣 Didn’t manage to get back to sleep but have been laid relaxing with my eyes shut 🥱🫩 They have been out in the garden and had breakfast so I am now back in bed with a cuppa. Will get up and take them for a walk after school run then I am off to see my friend (who used to live in the next road but moved before I did) and will probably need a snooze later this afternoon 😉

Met up with another friend yesterday. Lunch was ok, nothing special, including soft drink £13.14, but we chatted throughout. She is having some marital problems which made me feel sad. I was glad that I could be there for her to unload.

I came home and had a snooze then walked the dogs and chatted to some of the local dog owners. I know a few from when I lived here. One of the good things about having a dog with you is that there are usually other dog owners to talk to & walk with if you want to. 😊 Lots of people know / recognise the dogs 🐕 🐕 and come over to chat.

Today we are having a girls meet up. I am taking my friend who lives round the corner to another friend’s who has had an op and is feeling down, there are a few of us going for a meet up & we are taking nibbles. I bought a broccoli & cheese quiche £2.50 and sharing crisps £1.50 to take with me.

It’s currently pouring with rain ☔️ The dogs have reluctantly been out in the garden, I dried them off with an old (dog) towel and fed them. I’m back in bed now with a cuppa.

SYa, one of THE best things about not working, has to being able to stay in/ go back to bed at your leisure😄

Girls meet up was lovely but had to go home and sleep for an hour before walking the dogs again. Two x one hour dog walks a day and socialising is exhausting 🤣

Yesterday was a bit more relaxing. Apart from dog walks I just popped to another friend’s house for a cuppa in the afternoon. We are meeting up again with another friend on Sunday and going out for lunch.

Today is forecast dry and a bit warmer than yesterday so I’m just planning on doing some clothes washing to hang out and a bit of garden pruning. It has rained in the night. Dogs have been fed and will be walked later. I’m back in bed again with a cuppa ☕️

This holiday has been lovely so far but has reinforced that I don’t want a dog of my own. Everything has to be planned around dog walks, their food & toilet breaks, as much as I love them 🐕🐕 I will be going home after 3 weeks for a rest 🤣

Sounds like you're having a good mix of social and rest time and a bit of sea air and change of scenery is always good for the mind and offering a fresh perspective on life.

My girls always wanted a dog but I always said no as it wouldn't be fair when we were all out of the house all day. I love dog walks and used to dog-sit for my old boss and take his out for walks in my lunch hour when he was recovering from a knee replacement. I always thought I would get one when I retired… but like you eventually came to the realisation that it wouldn't be right for me.

I bet your step count has increased considerably 😄
