Thanks Suze and @Organgrinder 😊 I will sort something out soon so I can pass them on to DS eventually.
A day of sunshine and showers yesterday. I pottered in the garden, one load of washing mostly dried but taken in once the showers started.I started sorting some family photos into the album I bought months ago. I have hundreds on my phone but I do enjoy looking through albums. Haven’t printed any for years. 3 packs of old photos left to sort through so I may do that today. Then I will have to decide whether to print more. My niece gets photos of little‘un printed into albums so I will ask her about it.Also planning some gardening today. I have a mock orange that DF “pruned” when I first moved in (chopped to ground 😳) and 2 years later it is now a mass of white flowers and looks lovely but I can’t see it from the house or seating area as there is a huge buddleia blocking it. So the buddleia goes! I have another to attract bees & butterflies further down the garden. I have looked up how to properly prune the mock orange and hopefully it will flower every year in future. That part of the garden also has tall plants with purple spikes of flowers (possibly weeds 😆) and some foxgloves. Once the new fence goes up this year I will be trying to sort out the rest of the garden. I know it's been mentioned already but do make sure you have adequate back ups in place.
Hard drives fail. CDs deteriorate (especially ones you have recorded yourself).
These days I back up to the cloud. I only have 100gb of storage via Google but it does my files, emails and photos. It's £1.50 a month from memory.
It also means I can access from anywhere and backup multiple devices without even thinking about it.
Mrs O was once upset her phone photos had been lost. Fortunately they'd been backed up to her Google account.4 -
Thanks @Organgrinder. I back my phone up to the cloud and get 5gb free with the option to upgrade to iCloud+ It’s the camcorder films I want to backup but no idea how to do it. If I download the films & floppy disks etc can I upload them to the cloud from my laptop?0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Thank you so much. Between you and Suze + her OH I think I have an idea of how to do it ☺️
Just need to buy a gadget now to do it 🤔
Sunny morning, washing hung out, did some gardening. Came in for lunch then it started raining so did a dash to fetch washing in. Ice cream man came down the street this afternoon so I raided my change pot by the front door and managed to scrape together £2.50 for a choc & nut tub of Mr softee ice cream 🍦 😋

Such a helpful discussion on tech. Enlightening on many fronts and jogged my mind to sort out backing up my phone and PC too.
Your finances are looking efficient and organised SYA. Something for me to aspire too after I have an EF in place.
Wow an ice cream van down your street! Heaven
I hope your week got off to a good startIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

As a bare minimum I would recommend two backups of anything important - then if one of the backups fails, you immediately make another one.
That's why in the end I decided to backup using the cloud. The chances of google/apple/amazon/microsoft losing all my data is very small!
And for £18 a year, the peace of mind is definitely worth it!5 -
Thanks dia, Tresinia and Organgrinder
Just one more question.. if I get the camcorder tapes put onto memory stick how do I upload it to the cloud. Will it save direct from the memory stick or do I need to save it onto my laptop? Sorry, did say I was thick 🤯
Trip to the tip all went ok this morning. DF insisted on paying for breakfast in spoons, less than £9 total for 2 fry ups and refillable hot drinks. I had a small fry up and 2 hot drinks. Back home and I did some gardening. DF brought me a tray of begonias that his next door neighbour gave me. He also took some cuttings from the mock orange so fingers crossed they grow 🤞 Had a bit of a snooze then walked to my friends house for a cuppa. She told me about a company called free prints. Have had a look online and it says you can get 20 free 6x4 prints of photos and free delivery on first order. Then up to 45 free per month/ up to 500 a year free just pay postage.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Save it to the laptop. Make sure the folder you save it to is automatically backed up to the cloud as per the instructions above.3
