My MOT is due the week before yours & will be serviced just before or maybe just after by my friend. The car is now 9 & has never had a problem with the MOT so I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us. Thankfully mine is mates rates or I hope so.

Fingers crossed all goes well in the MOT, having the money already saved is a great peace of mind I think.

It does help. Can you have a boyfriend at 78. First date over 60 years ago. Broke up, dated again, broke up dated again. In our 20s married others. Met again in our late 50s (2004). He has owned his own garage for most of this time but sort of retired 3 years ago. The saying it isn't what you know but who you know is so true. I am especially grateful that he deals with this (I do pay for it) is that there have never been any issues with either car during this time. The new car before had an MOT at 3 years (so we are talking 1994) & it supposedly needed £1k worth of work. This is why I always agree with Martin that you should have an MOT done by an MOT only garage & never by one that does repairs. And as for dealerships if they are not going to make their full bonus guess what they do.

Sya, I think your way of thinking about not frittering money is marvellous. I also think like this, as it means not being in the pay of a toxic employer. Even a non toxic employer steals your hours and so the ability to decide each day what to do with your time is priceless. 4k in interest is phenomenal, what interest rates are you getting and who with? Last year I had money saved in nsandi, at 6.1 %. It expired in September and now is 5.1 % which is still good, but the rates are coming down slowly. Badmemory, great story about re connecting in later life with a partner from the past. I think this happens more than you would think. Of course the old fashioned term boyfriend has been replaced with the more generic partner, which sounds perfectly dignified to me 😄3

He does refer to me as his partner, but to me a partner implies more of a live in relationship than we have.

Bad memory, Ah OK, well it's all good either way, good company doesn't need a name🤗2

Had a great evening out with friends. Meal & 2 drinks £19.35.badmemory I think boyfriend sounds better than manfriend ☺️Tresinia the money invested is the equity from downsizing. The one year bond is £15k with virgin 5.11%. My 2 year bond is with N wide £50k can’t remember the rate off the top of my head, around 4%. I need to get the paperwork out. When the time to reinvest comes I always check the best rates available but prefer a high street / known name. Ns&i were about the same at the time of investing.DF dropped off some veg from his allotment yesterday so I am going to use up the rest of the roast chicken warmed in gravy with leeks, cabbage and purple sprouting broccoli 😋0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
