Thanks Tresinia 😊 Good news about the new aldee. I wish I had any shop within walking distance.

Walked up the hill for my flu jab today. Also had to use the machine for weight and blood pressure ready for my diabetes check up next week. BP was a bit raised but they said this could be from the exertion of walking uphill 😆 No pain from the jab but my arm is aching now.

Washed door mats and speed mop covers & dried outside.

Made chicken, green pepper, broccoli and black bean sauce for tea and one portion for the freezer. Am going to make butternut squash soup tomorrow. I still have 2 other meals in the freezer and a tin of mushroom soup, a tin of tuna and tin of sardines in tomato sauce. 5 eggs & a sprinkling of grated cheese. Bread in the freezer. Plus weetbics and porridge & milk & fruit. Should have enough food to last until midweek & will go shopping after GP appointment. Hopefully my Dsis is coming over next week for a few days

  • Feeling ok thanks SuzeQ 😊 Arm was only sore for 2 days.

Off to GP today for hba1c blood test. Then going food shopping.

DF is still testing positive on Sunday and refusing to test again until Wednesday. No idea why as I have offered to get him more tests. He can be so stubborn sometimes maybe an over 80 age thing. My sister will not know until Wednesday morning if she can come over but has to go back Saturday 😕

    Current account remaining balance £45.74.

Off to see my friend this afternoon so will get us a cake 😋

He probably doesn’t like the swab - my OH point blank refuses to do the tests so he uses me as his test subject 🤣. Hope your DS gets to visit with DF everything 🤞🏻🤞🏻 enjoy the cake - post test celebration 🥰🥰

    hi sya
Just catching up on your diary, sorry to hear that you had covid and lost your sense of taste, It makes eating so boring when you cant taste it. Great it didnt take too long to come back. Fingers crossed that your DF tests  negative and you can meet up with your family.
I love hearing about your food plans, I really need to get the slow cooker out again, never seem to get on with it!

  • Thanks flowers 😊

DF is still testing positive so my Dsister is not coming this week. I am due to go to hers next weekend anyway so he is going to test again before then & hopefully come with me. It’s grey & damp here so far today so we couldn’t even sit in the garden with him. He’s ok and seems cheery so am not too worried. I will pop up and see him in the garden tomorrow.

Have been to get him another Covid test £1.99 and some chocolate in case I get any trick or treaters tomorrow night. If no one knocks I will eat them myself 😆 Remaining in current account £1.47. “Payday” tomorrow.

I am making a beef curry in my slow cooker, should be about 4 portions with broccoli and cauli & red pepper. I will cook the gammon in the slow cooker tomorrow & have some with broccoli and cauli cheese and the rest will make several meals including gammon and eggs and gammon with roasted veg (courgettes, peppers, onions and butternut squash). Maybe also a gammon, broccoli and cheese crustless quiche.

  • Feeling a bit rubbish this afternoon. Across the road have been digging up the road for a dropped kerb since the end of last week and cementing, now hammering- I think they are having block paving parking on the front of their house.

Next door have been scraping, hammering, electrical sanding on the party walls all weekend and continuing yesterday and today.

My head is pounding and my nose keeps feeling cold. I’ve had the heating on a couple of times just to boost up to 18 degrees which is warm enough to keep the icicles off the end of my nose. It’s still dark & grim outside. I can’t even escape up to DF’s for a cuppa.

Have worked out my budget for November. There doesn’t seem to be much change for me in the national budget but it was doing my head in on the tv so I will have a good look later.

  • Hi sya, this latest covid variant seems to be a bit of a hanger on! Hope df gets well soon.  I also hate it when there is any building or road works going on,  we live on a busy road and either the council or the gas or someone always seems to be digging up the pavement or road,  very annoying.  The budget was a bit of a damp squid after the hype. Employers taking most of the brunt. Good news is the petrol price is frozen for another year so good for drivers and generally as the price of everything is affected when fuel goes up so thanks for small mercies. Rachel Reeves spent the first half of it banging on about girls aspiring to be Chancellor, forgetting we've had 3 women prime ministers (for all the good they did anyhow🤔But hopefully we will hear less about it all now for a bit. Feel like we've had a bit of a narrow escape.  Thought she might cancel bus passes for pensioners which would have annoyed Mr Tres, so at least I don't have to listen to any complaining about that! Makes me laugh how they took 1p off a pint of 🍺,  a pint must cost about a fiver now in some pubs so I don't think many will be rushing out to celebrate. I like a glass of 🍷 from time to time,  expect that week be put up sneakily too.
  • Hi Tresinia I think we heard about most of the budget before today. Agree with your comments re the chancellor.

I think the only change for me is the bus fares going up to £3. Thing is that is one-way, so will be £6 for me to go to town and back instead of £4. I will probably consider driving instead. At least it doesn’t change until January so me & friends can still go Christmas shopping and have a drink.
