But as you said in the UK we use kerosine not gasoil - is there a contract for jetfuel - that would be the best one for us to follow.

I think that uk heating oil is basically low sulphur jet kerosine, happy to be corrected though.

No, there is no contract for jet/kerosene that you can access (you would need to be an oil trader to do that via the OTC swap market (whereby 2 parties trade the risk together, eg. BP and Total).

But, the gasoil contract is well linked enough to the jet price as to be sufficient for your needs. (The jet fuel price is traded as IP gasoil + a variable premium)
  • Winter is coming - don't get caught short.

Time to beef up you security, or am I just being paranoid?
  • Just got a quote for heating oil when i phoned up two companies, for 1000L were going to charge me 44p (ex Vat) delivery tomorrow. I then found a cheaper company for heating oil they were charging for 42p (ex Vat) i dont think i can beat that as many companys arent displaying prices online
  • Can you tell us where you are and who quoted you that price? It seems too low to believe. Round here (Wiltshire) it's pushing 60p/litre.

I recently got a delivery of 500 litres from Watsons (South Wales) and it was 63.9ppl. 44p sounds really cheap!
  • I also just got online quote best price here in West Wales is 63.28p for 500 litres. There's another firm I sometimes use, but can't phone them till tomorrow, they are normally a bit cheaper. Thank god it's been warm this past week!

Just thought Id give this thread a bump as the price of crude oil has dropped recently. Today I managed to get a price of 55.62p for ordering 800l. Im in Norfolk, anyone else wanting any nearby, I originally got a price of 55.75p form Broadland fuels and they were by far the cheapest, but tried my luck with ringing CPL back and they beat it, for the quid difference and being on the phone to them I took it. Not bad anyway, £60 cheaper than when I last ordered in December last year.

I'm in Norfolk too and just got 500 litres (we're moving out of this rented place soon so did not want to fill up) for just over £304, that was with Broadland too. I rang around half a dozen places and looked on Boiler Juice too and Broadlands were quite a bit cheaper. It really gets on my nerves when you have to play one off against the other, why can't they just give their very best price and be done with it!!!

Think on the bright side if they just gave their best price to everyone all other things being equal that price would be higher than the one you negotiate after phoning round. ;)
