Best price for heating oil?

Not really the point is it. They have a disabled child and TB couldn't give a rats a*** by the sound of it. I bet you wouldn't be "oh they are within the working day time frame" if it was you in that situation.
Actually it is the point
As the op admitted - they themselves got it wrong - they didnt order the oil in time0 -
Total Butler is, hands down, the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I no longer buy oil from them even if they are the cheapest as the stress of dealing with them is not worth any saving.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

I agree I would not use Total Butler. I rang around the other week for a price they were cheapest and quoted 3 week delivery which wasn't a problem but they wanted the money straight away. The other companies that I use take your card details but don't process it until the oil has been delivered.0

Even when you get it right TB are very 'flexible' with their interpretation of how long it will take them to deliver oil. They kept us hanging around once for days longer than they'd 'suggested' it would be, try getting a definite delivery date - it just won't happen. Anyway after being messed about by Total Butler I rang another local company who said they could deliver the next day - Kinch Fuel in Devizes - it meant telling TB to stuff their 'direct debit payments scheme' and pay up front but at least we had oil!0 -
Yes they did get it wrong but for christ sake TB could have shown some heart and sent an emergency delivery.
How do they choose who to send supplies to? Is it the OAP's just about to run out, but not wanting to make a fuss? The single mother who is only buying 500 litres because that's all she can afford? Should they send round a inspection team to check how vulnerable you are, before they authorise your place in the queue?
And as for you saying "I bet you wouldn't be "oh they are within the working day time frame" if it was you in that situation."
Of course I would still say that. I would have made an agreement with the company, no matter who it was. I would stand up and admit I made a mistake, not lambast the company who can't physically deliver my oil before then.
If it was too cold for my disabled DD I would send her to friends or relatives for a few days, or borrow some oil from neighbours, or camp in the living room in front of the fire.
I would do something for myself and if I asked for help and got it, from where-ever, I would be grateful, but not expecting people to drop everything and jump because I shouted.
People need to take some personal responsibility, not just blame everyone else.
To even it out a little, I've used TB a few times and had no issue with them, but I've also used SS Motors and Watsons too, all without problem.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Total Butler delivered my 2000ltrs at 50.85p +vat as promised on Tuesday.
Although I haven't bought from them I use direct oil for an instant online quote to check prices
http://www.directoil.co.uk/Instant-Quote.aspx
They are quoting 52.8p/1000ltrs - 52.3p/2000ltrs for me today, and the same for a Hampshire postcode I got from the net....Maybe it's just me0 -

OK hats off to Watsons at least they say on the directoil site that they are not a comparison website but you say that Total Butler delivered? So how does that tie up with the directoil site stating:
"We are a division of Watson Petroleum. All our deliveries are undertaken by Watson Fuels or by one of its other divisions. Deliveries are not passed to other companies. This gives us greater control over our customers' deliveries of fuel."
Did W buy them?0
