Most ridiculous 'add-on' you've ever had to pay?

Post Office Car Insurance charged me £25 for removing my husband's name from our joint policy. Should have let it run until renewal. It was a few years ago but have never used them again.

What really gets me is why a large tea is more expensive than a small one? Oh yes please I really want to pay an extra 30p for some extra hot water!
Another one, you check in at your hotel (early) - to be told you’re in luck, your room is ready!! Great stuff! Then you are told it is an extra £30 to check in, Nah, I will wait the one hour thanks!1 -
I can't stand admin fees. I recently remortgaged to get another fixed rate (yeah I know, terrible timing) and the solicitor absolutely insisted on indemnity insurance for an old "rental charge" (despite the property being freehold). Their "finders" fee cost just as much as the policy!
I call those "computer says yes" fees and I hate them with a passion.2 -

Higher costs for women's clothing, hair cuts, everything. If a woman buys plus size clothes they cost more than the smaller sizes but the same doesn't normally happen for men's plus sizes. Hair cuts can be twice the price even if you are both getting what essentially is a barber shop cut. Things like razors will be in pink or pale blue and there'll be 3 in a pack for the same price as a pack of 4 or 5 black ones being marketed for men.
Weirdest one though was when I questioned the difference between 2 prices for an airline. They had Jazz and Jazz Plus with the plus one being about 20% higher in cost. I rang them to find out what extra I would get by paying more. Nothing apparently. It's just people assumed by paying more they were that bit closer to being in business class when in fact the seats, meal, baggage allowance, everything was identical.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. he most heartbreaking and soul-destroying ones are for the recently bereaved such as 'tea for two', 'single room supplement' and the Jacobite rain where you can only book 1st class 'for two'. Why? Bad enough losing a spouse and being bereaved without being punished for it and being discriminated against.

Went to a burger restaurant in Tenerife. Ordered two burgers. When they came plain, I asked if could have ketchup. When bill arrived 1.5 euros added for 'sauce' !1

Did a gifted experience voucher come with a particularly steep service charge?
Did an airline's mandatory extra charges really take the biscuit?
I'd love to hear any and all examples. Thanks.3 -
We had to pay €5 per day for a Coffee Station to be available in our hotel room, in Germany. It was about the same as the Travelodge offering- small kettle, couple of packets of instant, sugar, nasty UHT milk. I suppose they must have had a lot of little kettles pilfered. On the other hand, the fridge in the room was free…..1

I once was in the process of buying a computer at Currys and they added on a delivery charge; I said I wanted to collect it but they said it was for delivery to the store. That made it more expensive than elsewhere, so I cancelled the sale and went elsewhere.1
