  • @matt_drummer I would consider removing the post in which you give quite a large amount of personal information, if I were you!

It’s just been explained that it was a case of mistaken identity in any case- so hopefully your mind has been put at rest by the apology. (Perhaps I should phrase that as “hopefully the apology has given you peace of mind?” 😆)
I don't know how to remove it?

    I think it's `locked' after a while?

This has all gone a bit weird from `having a smart meter'!
Top right of the post on the blue bar you will see a Cog symbol - click that and it gives you edit/delete options. Let us know if you can and one of us will report it to the forum team for removal. (You should also be able to do this, but just deleting or editing will be quicker)

  • Sorted via PM, but I apologise here too - my initial post was a slip in judgement, and the results are exactly why I thought better of it!  But alas I was too slow in realising and deleting it 🤦

It's done, I got to it in time, but it does disappear after a while.

    Thanks for your help.

Hope I haven't upset you today, was slow at work and posted more than I should have, maybe.

The cog stays around for quite some time - it’s certainly available for 24 hours or more, and I think longer than that in fact. 😁

Considering @Deleted_User got the answer he needed on page 5 for the certification of his meter not running out til 2035 this post certainly took a turn for 11 pages.

Just goes to show how emotive smart meters are to energy junkies. We are in this category btw.

Accusations of socks, puppets and account shenanigans. (Not adverse to this myself lol would love to catch a fake duplicate account) Almost as out there as the theories and misinformation on smart meters.
  • I've got a little confused by this conversation, so apologies if I have missed something.

The OP identified that their electricity meter is good for a while yet; was it established how long the gas meter had left on its validity? Could the gas meter have been the trigger for the letter from Octopus, and not the ancient, but still going strong electricity meter?

i had a dig around and posted a cut from a goverment site saying gas meters dont have a central list of approved types and i also couldnt see anything in the law about certification of gas meters. so i dont know if that means they arent certified or if the manufacture certifies them and theres no central list?
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

The original post says the letter referred to the electricity meter.

We haven't been able to establish gas meter certification period as there doesn't appear to be a corresponding document for those, just the Schedule 4 list for electricity meters.
