  • @matt_drummer - you might find this helpful - at the top right of your posts, in the blue bar, you will see a cog symbol. Clicking or tapping this gives you the option to edit your post  which will work better than repeatedly quoting and responding to the same post in multiple replies. (As aside from anything else doing that can also be seen as “post building” by some - and could get you reported for that to the forum team.  HTH!

  • Sorry.

When I quote it just includes everything, if I try to remove parts I then can't say anything.

I'll try to do something about it and ask for assistance if I get stuck.

Thank you for the heads up about `post building'. I'm not really sure what that is but I guess the clue is in the name! I can't see why anybody would do that as there aren't any rewards for posting comments.

Of minor interest the OP's meter was originally only certified for 25 years. It was up to 40 years by the earliest version of the schedule I can find from July 2015 and went to the current 45 years in the January 2020 update.
This increase in certified life must be through in use testing showing it is a reliable meter and must also mean there are enough still in use to enable that testing and to make it worth someone's while to get the certification extended.

Editing the post means you can go back and add the parts you subsequently want to put in in replies.

The best thing to do is start typing underneath, then go back to highlight/remove what you need to.  As long as there's at least one character under the quote body you can then continue typing underneath afterwards (even if it's just a space).

It also jumps back into the quote box if you use autocorrect/complete for the first word on a phone or tablet keyboard.  So annoying!

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

I think you got confused with a second poster in the middle of the thread who had his meter since 1960 and it was recertified later. This meter also "only" had 40 years certification.

The OPs meter has 45 years and from the evidence seems to have been certified in 1990.

Oh my word. The day after we were having this chat, I watched on Film 4, the Steven Spielberg film:   A I  Artificial intelligence.

It was so creepy. The family took in an android robot boy.

All the folks on here who like all the technology..... please do not ask me to have a humanoid robot in my house!

No, I'm looking at the S200.31 meter that the OP has.

You can see the certification period of 25 years here - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1998/1566/made
