but yes. we dont have an alexi because i dont like the idea of the house listening to me! but no problem with other people having things if they want themAlmost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.3 -

This increase in certified life must be through in use testing showing it is a reliable meter and must also mean there are enough still in use to enable that testing and to make it worth someone's while to get the certification extended.
The OPs meter has 45 years and from the evidence seems to have been certified in 1990.
You can see the certification period of 25 years here - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1998/1566/made
2015 certification of 40 years is here- https://web.archive.org/web/20151007174953/https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/447265/Schedule_4_-_15th_July_2015.pdf

The S200.16 and S200.38 which are now 40 years were also only 25 years in 1998.

I'm a bit confused now. Is my meter, Sangamo S200.31, the one with the longest certification - 45 years and should be fine until 2035?.

Thank you very much for confirming that, and for the link, Spoonie_Turtle. I have saved the link now.1

That's really helpful, thank you, again, Spoonie_Turtle.1

The post is about whether the OP is being misled by the email that he received and it seems he has listened and has made up his own mind and decided he has been and they can keep their SM.
If smart meters were for the benefit of the consumer --------------- they wouldn`t fit them.

I don't really think like that, 2010. I am a very satisfied Octopus Energy customer. My first hand experience is that their customer service is excellent and they have been very good to me.
On this occasion it's my choice not to accept their offer of having Smart Meters fitted to replace my existing 'Dumb' meters.
I understand that there are some worthwhile benefits for some customers who choose to have Smart Meters.6 -
