Whilst it is good to be ahead of the game, you don't need all that just yet.

At this stage you are just completing the form and returning it - remembering to send a copy to the Claimant.
  • Thanks Keith, that's good to know. I'll email the CCBC back and CC in the email address I have for UKPC

    But you aren't emailing UKPC.

When we say the Claimant we mean their solicitors of course - your claim form tells you this is where to send comms.

  • Ahh great thank you - apologies I haven't seen the claim yet, I'm in the office today and my partner opened the letter up.

    It's not a claim.

It's just the expected form that comes next.  Fully explained in the NEWBIES thread and also mentioned in the Template Defence sticky thread too.

    Hi,

Just before I submit the N180 it asks for dates that I will not be able to attend the hearing. My fiancé is pregnant with our first, this obviously makes things quite difficult so shall I / can I put 2 weeks either side of the due date i.e. 1st December - 1st January (if the due date was December 15th)

So sorry to ask another question as well:

I've read all the thread and the useful comments from Bargepole on NEWBIES who has given a walk through with the N180 (Most useful) however, for the new question D1

Do you consider that this claim is suitable for determination without a hearing, i.e. by a judge reading and considering the case papers, witness statements and other documents filed by the parties, making a decision, and giving a note of reasons for that decision?

Is this a yes or a no - just so I'm clear?

Lastly can I've typed my postcode in to the Gov website and the nearest court is class as the below:

Magistrates' Court and Family Court (not classed as county court on website, is this still okay?!

I'd add more weeks unavailable.  A month before and a month after.

What if your fiancée (not fiancé, that's male) goes over a fortnight late and is induced or has an emergency Caesarean (I did with my first).  Or what if the baby is born prematurely?  All stressful times.  Avoid any chance of the hearing being around then.

Guys, thank you so much, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it

so yes, to D1 and yes to local magistrates and family court (albeit a small unit)

…and Coupon Mad, I never knew fiancée was female and fiancé male, which I should have done
