I have not seen any definitive proof that if you have n accounts you can get n amounts of £10 cashback

May have missed it of course.
    Isn't that what this means?

Each calendar month, we’ll work out what cashback you’ve earned and pay it into your Nationwide current account, up to a maximum of £10 per card.

    Misleading  Daily Express Newspaper article

nationwide building society interest rate cashback

Nationwide Building Society offering account with interest rate of 5% - plus £120 cashback

At £10 per month, this means Nationwide Building Society members could get £120 in cashback throughout the year.
ONLY RUNS FOR TWO AND HALF MONTHS
I suppose arguably you can earn £120 cashback. If I'm not mistaken you can have up to 4 Nationwide current accounts.

4 accounts at £10/mth for the full offer period comes to £120. Though in order to get this amount you would need to spend £2.4k in supermarkets by the end of April.
He was only talking about 1 account as he mentions throughout the year as if it was going to run for the year.

I thought Waitrose and F&M were in?
    Yes, both on the list.

However VISA may categorise them as posh nosh rather than supermarkets, grocery stores or convenience stores.
Fortnum & Mason offers more than just a supermarket or a convenience store, though, so it's probably the reason Visa classifies it as something else. It might not be as low rent as a Tesco or Aldi but  I wouldn't describe Waitrose as anything other than a supermarket.
I’m surprised F&M are on but M&S Food Halls are not.  I did say I supposed they could not differentiate between food and clothes etc but other stores on the list sell things besides food, so await peoples responses at the end of months when they should be getting their “reward”.
Yes - sorry I got confused earlier about who was included and not.

    For example

why are stand alone M&S food stores apparently excluded?

can they differentiate between Waitroses and John Lewis purchases when they are part of a single store such as Oxford St?

how can they tell you have spent cash on food in Morrisons - or spent in store at the cafe which Morrisons run. The rules refer to instore concessions - fine for Costas say in Tesco - but presumably if the supermarket runs the cafe itself that is eligible?

Honestly - why not just do what the co-op does and say any spend on a debit card is eligible and if necessary cut the cap. One might suggest non essential non food retailers need more help in the current climate than food ones - so it would help the wider economy (which is what mutuals are there for supposedly)?

Even if the cafe is run by the supermarket you are charged separately from you shopping it's all down to VISA Merchant ID Codes
That's why the petrol's stations are excluded due to these codes being used. Do you know which codes apply? Are these printed on you receipt?

    Co-op

Be rewarded up to £2.20 a month

    • £1 for each month if you qualify.
    • Up to a maximum of £1.20 for debit card spending each month you qualify. If you meet the criteria below, you'll be rewarded an extra 2p every time you use your debit card to pay for things.
    • No extra cost for opting in to Everyday Rewards.
    That's using your card 60 times X 50P to earn 4%

I guess the only definitive proof would be someone receiving the reward into multiple accounts.

But that isn't going to happen for another six weeks.
    4. With a joint current account, both of you will be able to separately earn cashback (up to £10 per month on each card) on Qualifying Spend
    9. Your cashback (up to £10 per month) will be calculated on a calendar monthly basis and credited to your account from which the Qualifying Spend was made within six weeks of month end

I got an email about this today, I didn't know anything about it as I don't log into Nationwide that often as I only use it for savings, I have a basic Flex account but really just for getting money out of savings accounts, I get a weekly online shop from Tesco so will put the card on there to use until the end of April, that should cover £200 a month and I don't need to know the forgotten PIN number.
Might need to use you card reader which requires your pin

I just put my card on to Tesco grocery website and my card fortunately is set up to be verified by text or card reader so I got the text verification code and it's all ready to go.  I think some people with Nationwide accounts only have card readers or that may have changed now, I have never used the card reader but it seems a bit of a faff.

I do have a question though is the £200 a month a calendar month or a month from when you start

The terms say cashback will be calculated on a monthly basis. And also that the offer ends on 30th April.  That implies calendar months.

You can get a pin reminder sent to you from online banking.

Because we would pay all our bills, holidays, cars etc on our debit cards for the 5% cashback.

They aren't doing this to help retailers.

M&S food halls are not supermarkets, they are closer to corner shops. Anyone know if tesco express, sainsburys local or any of the food deliveries offered by supermarkets are included?
  • "You can earn 5% cashback however you like to shop. In store or for home delivery."
From their website, wasn't that difficult to find!
