    I assume/think that:
As this is likely based on MCC IDs, the food stores that are excluded, and part of a larger store, use their parent store's more general ID.

The included ones have a different MCC ID for the food halls.
  • As I currently shop online with Iceland through Swagbucks - got the initial £15 with them and £10 with Top Cashback - I'm still ok to continue this way?

I'm assuming all that Nationwide will see is 'Iceland - £42.50' or whatever the figure is?

Suppose I could do a trial purchase of a gift card of, say, £10 with my NatWest Reward credit card and see if I get the full 1% cashback with that. If I do, chances are it will work with Nationwide
It will work, only supermarket knows what you purchased, not card provider.

On the other hand, just seen Aldi giftcards in store, so it may be a good idea to purchase £200 and then use it for shopping.
Might not be an issue for you but Aldi giftcards can only be used at manned checkouts.

I suppose arguably you can earn £120 cashback. If I'm not mistaken you can have up to 4 Nationwide current accounts.

4 accounts at £10/mth for the full offer period comes to £120. Though in order to get this amount you would need to spend £2.4k in supermarkets by the end of April.

    No. It’s just sloppy journalism.

At least it is obvious, unlike some intentional fake news or misleading dramatic headlines purely for effect.

I have not seen any definitive proof that if you have n accounts you can get n amounts of £10 cashback

May have missed it of course.
