Was a fairly cheap fix. Not much to report. Working hard budgeting my best. Always a curveball and unexpected cost that crops up isn't there. Plodding on. Still ne d to set aside my weekly budget so I can monitor it better but I will get round to it eventually. Passed my three month probation and they said should find out month before fixed terme ends lf they will extend it

Well done on passing probation!  How long is the fixed term?

End of December. Hoping I get longer as that's would be a crap time of year to look for jobs but my old job started the consultation with the person I worked with about a month after I left so I'd have been jobless by then anyway. Least this way I've earned more and ticked the I can learn new things confidence box. Boss is happy and thinks I'm a keeper from what's been said but also they've taught me how to use the internal jobs website so I'll have a look on that after the half term

Hope they do extend it, but as you say, you've had some positive experiences from this post which should put you in good stead for the future.

  • School trip letters. Highschool. Cost of 600 and food/spends whilst there as only b and b, or 7 days all inc 1150 plus spends and food whilst traveling or skiing which was over 2k and only half board.  Hmmm.  In other news v busy busy at work barely time to think and house a tip so this weekend need to do a mega clean up and life admin catch up.

I found that there was less pressure to go than at primary school.  Our rule was that if it was needed for educational purposes (history trip to see battlefields etc) then we would try to find the money.  If it was just for fun, then sorry we can use that amount of money for the whole family holiday and all have fun rather than just one member of the family benefiting.

Yes I think that's a good rule. The 1150 one sold out in 15 mins so by the time most kids were home it was full already. I was shocked at the price and the sell out time 😂. 80 places across two years groups so yes it's not expected everyone would go as that would be 300 ish kids. We've said no. Child's friends mainly booked on mid price one and one friend booked on that and skiing. Wowsers!

I worked out how much I would need to set aside each month from now till the end of the century to give all three kids the same trips in primary one each at highschool and the school iPad uniform mobile phone etc. was about 200 a month from now till the end of the century. Well slight exaggeration but you get the drift. We had a Chinese takeaway as a treat instead ha ha
