It's very easy to fall into the trap of trying to pay off as quick as possible, and then getting in a fluster. I still have my DMP debts very low, and focus on saving and getting the work done in the house. I go with the recommended figures for my budget even if I don't spend that, and I make sure I account for if I have to pay for childcare in the holidays. Whilst I might not always need to spend that money, it's better than having a panic if I do need to one month. It makes life so much easier and the debts are still getting paid. When I've got enough in savings, I'll just clear them or do F&F offers, but there's no hurry."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thanks jwil. I think now I feel things are more manageable I'll feel more relaxed about it. And have just done a revised budget on an excel sheet with DH sat next to me. And I listed everything on its own line to help him see how many things we pay out for!!!!Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Fairly low spend weekend. No major costs except the food shop. TV licence paid for today as well-annually so that's a small savings I suppose. I swapped to paying everything annually then over last eighteen months with cost of living etc etc I ended up out of sync and everything on a monthly d debit again. I'm determined to get everything back annually again as when you add it all up it's a few quid cheaper each month. DH car tax due to so must look at that being annual as well. The excitement eh! It's been raining heavily all weekend so Ive put the heating on for a bit. Need to warm the house up-and dry it out a bit!Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

There's always something! At least it's hopefully a cheap fix."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
