Think it's going to take a while. DH credit card bill yesterday is 600 more than I expected. 🤔

Yes It is isn't it. Have decided to concentrate just ondebts in my name at moment and pay minimum to his whilst getting us a household e fund. We have weird finances in that dh wages go into a joint account and anything above 450 each week goes back to him. The rest stays in the pot for bills. Sounds a lot I know but the house just seems so expensive to run. Food and childcare costs mainly I suppose, of all the methods we've tried this one seems to keep the peace and now I'm full time it covers the bills which is great news!

That sounds like a good plan.  At least you can get on top of yours and the e fund.

Is there any wiggle room in his income to increase it to £500 a week or even 475. It would make a massive difference to you and help reduce the stress and pressure on you. It's hard when your partner isn't always on board or haven't had their light bulb moment.
    *Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
    *Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
    *Natwest - £1828.35 -£0.00

    Barclaycard - £2315.25 - £0.00

    Creation Finance - £960.32 £840
    *Total debt - £8040/£11641.17*

    Savings
    *Savings Buffer - £100/£1500
    *Emergency Fund - £1500/£1500

Yes I think there is. He drinks daily. Some would say alcoholic. I think he is. I keep trying and one day the lightbulb may come on. I think if we went all Dave Ramsey ISH. Ie real food as opposed to rice we could have a e fund and knock 2 or 3 grand off by Xmas....or fix parts of house that needs fixing

For now I'm just getting my ducks in a row. I haven't been anywhere near as strict with my new full time wage as I should be but I have bought some clothes, ice creams as a treat cos I can and had a trip to the pictures. The odd extra has gone in the trolley and I haven't had to panic so much about doing it. I'd like to think I've struck a nice balance although I should really be saving more..... 😂 The debts have gone down though and I always new summer would wipe out any noticeable extra saving potential.i set a 550 childcare budget for summer and have 160 of that left.  I've got four days still to solve - i'm currently hoping to work from home with the kids here and if I can't fudge that then the remaining budget will cover most the childcare I would need

You've been struggling for so long, it's not unreasonable to have a few treats with your increased wage, especially with the holidays.  There's time enough after the holidays to get back on track.  I agree with the suggestion about increasing DH's contribution if you can, particularly if he's just blowing it on alcohol and other stuff.

  • So I've blown the budget completely this weekend. Trip to Chester zoo. Yay! They have a late night opening at moment so access to zoo 3-8 pm and tickets half usual price. Had a good trip. V glad we packed snacks and drinks to keep the cost down though and then really glad we all had a lovely stick of rock from the gift shop as got stuck in traffic jam and long drive home. Kept the kids quiet. Shoe shopping for school and pe shoes today too so u can guess how the bank account felt after that! Despite this however we are currently 100 less in debt than this time last month. Hoping it stays this way till payday at end of month. (Unless DH c card has gone up again somehow 😂)
