No news as yet. I'm still working so not imminently unemployed but I did think that the process/consultation period probs would be explained to me by now. Ah well every day means it lasts longer. Would be nice to know the way it works though to decide whether to sit tight be Awkward or jump ship.dawnybabes said:But rubbish it’s taking them so long to sort you out. So we are only just at the start of term. Not including school dinners or any wrap around care my primary school children have had letters about trips, the swimming lessons they do in school time, costs for craftthings and clubs that if I said yes to everything would be a total cost of 246 EACH......I have two ....... I'm not saying yes to everything but some are gonna have to be paid for. my budget is down the toilet. My slush fund and school trips fund are about to get emptied. And it's not yet the season of bring this that and the other for raffles or discos or endless Xmas events........
Highschool child has not had any letters asking for money yet apart from if we want school dinners. I'm off to hide in a cave in case they get any......Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

It's ridiculous isn't it

Yes we've had quite a few letters asking for money. Thankfully because they are on free school meals it means the music lesson is paid for by the school. Still needed to pay for art / dt supplies and non uniform donations for the yearMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 15, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/191

Oh no music too. They are learning an instrument this year so I'm gonna get a would you like to continue this at a big cost letter aren't I.slm6002 said:Yes we've had quite a few letters asking for money. It sounds likely. By any chance are you entitled to free school meals. Even if you are not perhaps explain that things are tough financially at the moment and there maybe a fund that might pay a contribution towards things. Schools do understand how expensive things are at the moment.
Another thought is that maybe there is a local youth band that would teach them the instrument for far less. Our local one was £5 a month for an hour a week. All 3 of mine went through the club and it saved them from needing the school lessons.
Swimming - could they save themselves if they got in trouble. Mine went to lessons until this was the case. They found that higher levels were mainly stamina rather than skills. We also used Christmas and birthday money to pay for these lessons. All of my relatives were happy to contribute rather than trying to think of things to buy, that would then end up in a cupboard a few weeks later.Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 15, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/191 -
That's good for the music isn't it. And very apt. Youngest two are learning brass this year, cost covered by school and a thanks but no thanks when we get the would you like to continue letter. Eldest came home from highschool today with a letter about music lessons/teaching instruments as opposed to his music class. £39 a month. I said to him ah it's about music he said hmmm. So it's a no from us. I've done well it's my first ask for money letter, although he had school.pbotos last week so I've another one on the way I imagine.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213
