slm6002 said:My DD2's shoes are disgraceful but I refuse to buy another pair this close to the end of term. Like you she will be wearing whatever shoe is holding together and the correct size until then. I had to buy some for DS at the beginning of the summer term as the sole was flapping badly and no amount of super glue was keeping it there. I am hoping for no more growth spurts tooJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

I found a great company a few years ago that guaranteed the life of the shoe for the year. They also gave inserts that could be removed to allow for another half a size. They are the only pair of shoes that I have ever found to last the year (sometimes longer) and still look decent. They were obviously so long lasting that the company closed as I guess they weren't making the money like all the other shoe shops from us parents having to buy yet another pairMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Omg I'm about to say share share share but yes if they closed oh no and its such a shame...a sign of the times as they say.
I have been known to go to a big brand beginning with c. Whilst there I Buy three pairs of shoes for primary school age and spend anywhere from 150 to 200 in the sept knowing that even if they don't grow by Xmas the salt schools put down over winter will mean these shoes disintegrate by Jan anywayJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

I use C shoes and they've always lasted us the whole year thankfully. I had to buy some more for little miss recently as she'd grown out of them, but I just bought some second hand ones to tide her over until the summer holidays."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I think I'm just unlucky in that when we use breakfast club we've probably arrived just as the caretaker puts the grit down. And they play out at after-school club in them to so they do take a battering.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

I know earlier in the year it seems like everything went up every day but now I think it's when I blink. I went shopping in store to.asda the other day, although I know my regular prices quite well it literally is every time I blink now and some.of the stuff I've stopped buying due to prices I saw the new price whilst in-store and was shocked . Im so flaming glad I'm on a fixed rate till next August with the mortgage. I'm feeling as though I'm further in debt every time I look at the moment but if the mortgage went up too I'd be properly screwed.
Anyway it's payday on the 26th. I will reassess then. No point worrying till then, I need to check it the same day each month I think. I really was hoping for our debts to have gone down this month but honestly I'm not sure. Watch this space to see. I'll.keep.u posted.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

It's terrifying isn't it. They say food inflation has been 18% in the last year, but a lot of things seem to have actually nearly doubled in price! It seems like it's more 18% a week. Tesco also say they think it's levelling off, yet things are still 10-20p more expensive than they were last week."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". beans on toast, prime example. No longer a cheap meal. And we have a child who eats everything and thinks a tin of beans is a between meal snack.hes also grown about three of four inches in a month. It had better stop inflating by the time.they hit teenage years I can tell ya.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Wage slip looks good about 800 in extra pay. My debts might actually finally go down this month. That would make a change !!Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213
