Regarding the 2nd part of this offer, what is the general consensus among everyone regarding the DD requirement.
Do they need to pay out every month or is being visible on account enough?

That's not the question. The question is will active direct debits for March/April for the first payment still count as active direct debits for the subsequent months for the second payment?

Personally I'd plan to play it safe and ensure both direct debits pay out each month.

Why would they not? Is there some obscure bit of the T&Cs I've missed?

EDIT : I have an annual DD that I've used as an active DD for a switch bonus (not TSB) that hasn't paid out during the switch qualifying period. Also used PayPal DDs that are variable rather than monthly. Is this what you mean?

I've taken a screenshot of my 2 DDs before they left Santander. They are both clearly marked active. I'd use that in any subsequent dispute - one of my DDs probably wont fire again for the £75 part of the bonus so I guess I'll find out eventually. I can see why you may want them both to go each month for the avoidance of doubt though. The Direct Debit page definition of inactive offers me some assurance https://www.directdebit.co.uk/faqs/inactive-direct-debits/

When I rang TSB a few weeks ago I was advised the requirement is at least 2 dd's need to be active when the account is transferred and do not have to be drawn upon to meet the criteria.

It's possible they might interpret 'active' to mean 'paid out in the last month'.

I mean, they might not. But then they've not provided any definition of 'active'.
  • I think my original point stands - the TSB scheme part one calls for (at least) 2 "active" DDs to be switched to TSB.

If part one pays out then the conditions have been met. Unless the conditions change for part two (which they don't) then these DDs would continue to be "active", regardless of them paying out or otherwise.

The only way to be sure is to ask TSB,  and even then the only way to be ABSOLUTELY sure is to wait until the incentive is paid.

I went for the belt&braces approach, 2 DDs paying out monthly before switch and after.

Beware of the card doing a PIN request on the 19th or 20th transaction in the month, and you can't remember it,.and will have to refind the letter with only a couple.of days to go

This may be a coincidence, maybe not

Can i use paypal to do the 5 debit card transactions for the second part of the offer. I have input my card details on my paypal account but how do i  use this to send the payments. I sent a payment from my TSB account to paypal but i think this went a a bank transfer, not a debit card transfer.   Thanks in advance for any help.
    Cheers!!!
