Can I switch to lloyd silver if I have a lloyds basic for the £200

It's very easy and quick to do so in online banking. Confusingly, you need to click to "upgrade" your account, but then select Classic during the upgrade process. The last time I did it this with a Club Lloyds account it went through immediately. Just make sure to hold off until the switch money lands in your account. You might get stung with a pro-rata fee for the brief time you held the Silver account, but the £200 more than makes up for it.Tahlullah.H said:I like the suggestion of downgrading the account once the incentive has been received. I didn't know that was a possibility. Is there a likelihood that Lloyds would say no to the downgrade request?

Thanks, I might as well put my savings in this Lloyd account, I'm thinking of applying for a lloyds saver account.wmb194 said:
No, savings accounts aren't switched along with current accounts and will remain open. You won't lose any money but the wrinkle with some savings accounts is that they need a current account with the same bank in order to withdraw money.Greg89 said:
What happens to my savings and money in my savers account? Will it transfer or is it possible I can lose money if I switch?CuriousGirl said:
Last year I've switched a Halifax account to my existing Lloyds account and received the incentive.Greg89 said:I was informed since Halifax is part of the Lloyds group I am not eligible for the £200 incentive.
I hope this don't impact on my eligibility.0 -
I asked if I can switch from my Halifax current accountk_man said:
Did you ask about switching your Halifax account to Lloyds Silver, or did you also mention your Lloyds Basic account?Greg89 said:I was informed by the Lloyds staff on my app online chat because I'm switching from an internal account.
Mentioning the latter may have confused the support staff who thought you wanted to switch from Basic to Silver (which wouldn't qualify for the bonus).
Holding another Lloyds account has no impact on the switching incentive, as long as the account being switched from is not a Lloyds one.0 -
Can't think of a good reason you were told that.Greg89 said:

Apart from the obvious, that support staff are only human too.0 -
Why not just try it.Greg89 said:

The best thing to do is put my current account money in the Lloyds basic
And then open up a Lloyds savers account
Then from Halifax create the switch of my DD and wages so that means I meet the eligibility criteria and I don't lose money
What happens to the money in the Lloyds basic account when I switch from halifax to Lloyds club silver?
Maybe I should open up a Monzo account and put all my savings in there
Maybe I can get a nationwide app and open bank account today without getting a letter0 -
Why are you panicking? As has been said before, nothing will happen to your savings accounts. Nothing will happened to any accounts that are unrelated to the switch. If you perform a full switch from a Halifax current account to a Lloyds current account only the Halifax account will close and its balance will be transferred to the Lloyds current account plus DDs, SOs and, usually, the payees set up on it.Greg89 said:The best thing to do is put my current account money in the Lloyds basic

No. I you've got more than one account at Halifax, including savings by the sound of it, only the actual bank account you're applying with will be transferred, and the other accounts and balances stay separate where they were.0
