Looking at the "fund the account with £1000" instruction...can this be a transfer from another Santander account like an E Saver, for example? Looking at the terms and conditions it doesn't really say anything about what is or isn't accepted?
Looking at this I would tend to agree with you that there is no restriction on where the £1k can come from, just that it must be deposited into the Santander current account that is taking advantage of the switch offer. There's no harm in shuffling around the money to make it come from an external source if you'd rather not chance it, but in my mind you'd be fine to move money from your eSaver to meet this criteria.

I'm not sure about that and I asked the question on the phone but the answer was vague

My plan is to transfer £1000 to one of my burner accounts, then to another burner then back into Santander account. Simple

I have a 123 Lite account with Santander, if I change it to an Edge account will I still be eligible for the £200 if I switch an account from a different bank into it? I've never received any incentives from Santander
    Yes

My reading of their guide is that if you change your account type and then want to switch in a different bank's account then you have to do it in-branch.

Applying for a new Edge account and switching can all be done online.

     https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/support/current-accounts/switching
You don't need to change your 123 account to an Edge account if you don't want to - existing 123 accounts are included in the switch offer as per the terms I posted on page 1.

Question was about switching a 1|2|3 lite account. Are they included in the blanket term "1|2|3 Current Account"?
  • Just picking up on the wording - when it says 'fund the account with £1000' does that mean to have it sit there for 60 days until confirmation, or is an in-and-out back to a different savings account sufficient to tick the requirement box?

"NOT AVAILABLE IF YOU HAVE AN INCENTIVE BEFORE"

I'm wondering if this is the new norm for Santander offers or if it only applies to this one.

Does anyone remember if the previous offer had the same clause?
      Yes they did

That's a good point - the past offers explicitly stated 123 Current Account and 123 Lite Current Account. I'd imagine it's an oversight to not mention the 123 Lite Current Account, presumably because it's no longer available to new customers, but it's probably worth checking with Santander to be sure.

It's a quick in and out job - if the money was required to be kept in the account for the full 60 days then the terms would clearly specify this.

I just phoned the switching team service and have been told the 123 Lite is not included in the offer. Guess I'll have to change to the Edge account first

That's good to know. Sounds like they are trying to "incentivise" people towards the higher fee 123 and Edge current accounts... :(
