Download OctopusWatch or Octo-Aid and you can see your daily Tracker cost the following day. Sadly, as this screenshot shows occasional 30 minute data loss can be an issue. For Octopus Gas Tracker, it does not stop billing:

Is that still locked to selected beta tester on iphones only for octopus watch? As was the case a few months back.  My octopus watch app on android shows no gas data.
Gas appeared as an option for me in early Jan.

The setting to enable is hidden in Settings, Options, HISTORY TAB, BETA: Show Gas

I do not have a smart meter ,if I switch to the Tracker tariff do daily gas and electric readings get used or estimates?
Why don't you request a smart meter?
I have requested from Shell Energy 3 months ago , switching to Octupus  now. Does Octupus install smart meters quicker?
  • I'm in London and pay for Gas using a prepayment metre, believe it's SSE.

    Is this cheaper?

@paul235 Whether you can get a smart meter installed is more to do with having available fitters in your area than what company you are with. Many of the fitters work in a small area but fit them for multiple companies.
    Barnsley, South Yorkshire
    Solar PV 5.25kWp SW facing (14 x 375) installed Mar 22
Lux 3.6kw hybrid inverter and 9.6kw Pylontech batteries
Daikin 8kW ASHP installed Jan 25
    Octopus Cosy/Fixed Outgoing
  • Can I switch just gas? And how does it work if I don't have a smart metre?

Yes can switch gas by contacting them, can read how it works https://octopus.energy/tracker-faqs/

Not available for pre-payment meter AFAIK

It's a pain with Octopus. You have to go to a web page which mostly just says no appointments in your area. You have to keep checking again and again until one day an appointment comes up.

When I got the smart meter, I spoke with Octopus who gave the name of the company they use to install smart meters, (forgot their name now) and booked an appointment directly with them without waiting for Octopus to book, otherwise would have taken ages.
  • I contacted them and I’m not sure the info they gave was right. “ Something to bear in mind as well is that you get charged for the monthly average of all the
daily readings, not on a day-to-day basis.I would also need confirmation
you accept the below terms and conditions please”

is this right? So if the prices spike for the second half of a month and I use less energy, the average price of the energy I’ve already used will increase anyway?
