jvjack said:Interesting thread. Replies made me have a little read. Not sure on forum rules but just wondering what the issue is here. Title says 2022 was warmest year on record and some note you have to consider how and why including where temperatures were taken.
Or is it something else.
Can't have been that many thermometers around in 1884.
1659 modern day temperature records began.2 -
ohh nice. We're all into thermometers on here.0

yes. it common to see bad science on both sides of the debate.
bad pro climate change science (that takes a single event or fact and then says its 'clear proof' of global climate change) is what gives deniers ammunition for the conspiracy theories and debunking.
and be careful about assuming nasa can't be wrong about something just because there nasa. i remember when they had to correct a mistake in there global warming data becase they changed databases for the millennium and were comparing two differnt datasets for most of a decade.
if you want to understand whats going on and not just be told whats going on then reading multiple sources and asking questions/poking holes in assumptions is the best way to check the reliability of any information.
for me. given the time periods we're talking. the differnt methods of measurement. the differnt equipment used (and how often its tested and calibrated). the different way the data has been stored and copied over the years. and things that ive already mentioned about changes to the physical environment. i agree with the general trend of human caused climate change but think that any claim that a specific year was 'the hottest on record' deserves a bit of scepticism. and the claim that a single year being hotter than the 'norm' is proof of climate change is just as wrong as claiming the data means nothing.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

And the ONLY scientist to walk on another world which lends some credence to his authority.
I believe in man made climate change but i am also open to alternative views and whilst you can easily dismiss Toby Young it is more difficult to dismiss Jack Schmidt as an idiot, he has remained active in geology since leaving NASA.0 -
A member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists is a climate change sceptic. Why isn't that a surprise?6.4kWp (16 * 400Wp REC Alpha) facing ESE + 5kW Huawei inverter + 10kWh Huawei battery. Buckinghamshire.2
