Milann’s quest for a new me in 23

It certainly is cheaper to fill a vehicle than it was but it’s still an expense. I remember when dd was starting uni many moons ago and we had to take her down to a big city 200 miles from here. We were outraged that petrol was in the high 90s pence and would soon be hitting A POUND 😳😳😳😳 and how would we ever afford to visit with prices that high……
I went to aqua aerobics again, it was a different person and I thoroughly enjoyed it…..he played lots of Motown and The Jackson’s. On my way home I called into Mossies for some jam sugar. £60 later 😵💫😳😳 I did buy a top and some trousers but that was £20 I didn’t need to buy. I might take them back tomorrow. I stocked up on some cleaning stuff as I was getting low on fabric conditioner and soap pods. I’ve got them in now 😏
Ds gave me a big bag of frozen strawberries yesterday. 2 kilos worth so I’ve been making jam. I’ve made 10 jars…..hope they are ok. I made jam last year but I’d over boiled it and it was a bit thick. I’ll share the jam with ds. It worked out 60p a jar 😀👍January spends - £587.582 -
A rubbish nights sleep last night. I came down at 2 am listened to some relaxation tapes. I couldn’t get comfortable - hip ankle and arm were so sore I couldn’t get in the right position and just for good measure around my middle joined in with a vengeance. I’ve not been able to roll over properly for a long time. Think surgery has messed my tummy and middle area muscles, but last night I could hardly move. I’m not sure if the aqua aerobics has shocked everything. I enjoy it though and I feel great at the time……it’s afterwards it gets me. I think I’m going to persevere with it, not go too mad…..just enough movement to look as if I’m doing it 😏 and hope the muscles get used to it. I’m having steroid injections in my ankle and hip in the next few weeks so I’m expecting a big improvement. I don’t think it helped listening to the news just before I went to sleep…..although I’m expecting the tests I’m having on Friday to show what I already know about…..there’s still a little niggle it could be something else. The news last night was all about the lovely newsreader that passed away yesterday…..and it played on my mind. I went back to bed about 3 and was still awake at 5. I must have nodded off as when I woke at 8 I had a stone cold cup of tea next to me. Dh brings me one up every morning at about 7 ish.
Today is new glasses day. I’m going to drive into town to pick them up, as I’m not sure I can walk that distance today. I want to close a savings account. I transferred the cash to a higher interest account at weekend but it wouldn’t let me close it….I have to do that in bank. I’ll try to do that today. I want to buy a few bits for the low residue diet tomorrow. I’m going to take the clothes I bought yesterday back…..the top is a bit tight and I’ve got a pair of trousers very similar to the ones I picked up, then I’m coming home and chilling 👍 Tea will be Spanish chicken from the freezer with pasta so nothing strenuous.January spends - £587.582 -
So much for a chilled afternoon. I’ve not been in long. I picked up my new specs……the distance bit is fine but the reading lens feels strong. The handover lady made a note of it and said see how it goes….it’s probably because I’m not used to them. I’m back in a couple of weeks to get my hearing aid looked at, which keeps switching itself on and off in, so I’ll see how the specs go and report back then. I’ve posted the receipt to Simply healthy so should get some cash back soon.
I closed the bank account and had the £20 interest transferred to the bonus saving account.I passed the Bon Marching shop…a shop I don’t often go in and they had the type of trousers in the window I’ve been looking for for ages. I tried a pair on and the waistband sits in the right place on my tummy. I decided to get the sizes they had in my size, olive green and rusty coloured pair. £20 each and when I got to the checkout they’d been reduced to £10. 😁😁😁 I’ve been contemplating making some but I couldn’t make them for that price. I looked online and they them in black and white but they didn’t have my size. The top and trousers I bought yesterday have gone back.I went to Asd@ and bought supplies for tomorrow when I have to have the special diet. All paid for via my points on the app so free shopping 😀
I did nip to the market and have a sandwich and cuppa £3.20 at the stall I went to last week. I bumped into some old pupils I worked with both with severe needs. It was lovely seeing them and they both remembered me and it’s a good few years since I worked with them. The schools around here don’t break up until Thursday although some have taken in-service days so town was slightly busier than it has been of late. There is a statue trail and there were a lot of folk……young and old with the maps following the trail. I was surprised how many had fancy cameras.January spends - £587.581 -
The trousers were a bargain! I think if you find something like that it’s wise to grab it while you can. Especially something that fits well. The times I’ve hesitated and returned later to find it gone.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I know SA…..I couldn’t have passed them as I’ve been looking a couple of years for high waited linen trousers with no zip 😁 I held on to some I had from Next but had to put maternity bands on because the waist wasn’t high enough for me these days.January spends - £587.580

Special diet is going well. I’ve taken it as a personal challenge to make tasty meals from the ingredients available.Scrambled egg on white bread for breakfast. I cooked a chicken and had finely sliced potatoes layered with some cheese…..I made stock boiling an onion and poured the stock over the potatoes and cooked whilst the oven was on with the chicken. I cooked carrots in the oven at the same time. I’ve had some for dinner ( I was just going to have a chicken sandwich but changed my mind) and we will have the same for tea. It was really tasty. I followed this with orange and lime jellies. A couple of rich teas and cuppas It’s a far cry from the times I’ve been in hospital being faced with grey fish and lumpy mash🤢 I was quite pleasantly surprised when carrots were on the list as it brightens the plate. 😁 Tomorrow will be more of a challenge with just clear liquids and jellies. I was trying to think what I’d had other times I’ve had the dreaded camera tests when I’ve been in hospital and I think I was just so poorly I wasn’t eating anything. I remember trying to get the litres of nasty drink down on several different occasions 😵💫😳🤢
I’m planning on going for a swim and going to tai chi so I’m not tempted to nibble tomorrow….then at 4 pm it’s a litre of horrid drink to get things moving followed by another litre at 7pm.
Itll all be over on Friday 😀
As expected the visit to the hospital for the infusion last week which showed a low level on one of the blood tests has triggered more blood tests at the GPS the surgery which phoned earlier and wanted me to go on Friday for blood tests but since I’m otherwise engaged I’m going Tuesday morning……hopefully it’s a glitch. I’m at my local hospital Tuesday afternoon for a steroid injection in my ankle….fed up of hospitals and all things medical this week 😏
ive been to aqua aerobics again and enjoyed it again. I’m going to try to go every week but the classes get booked so quickly it’s hard to find a space. Hopefully I won’t be as stiff and sore this time as I was last time.No pennies have left my purse today 👍January spends - £587.582 -
Good job it's all free
Hope all goes well.

@milann - Hope it all goes well for you. Sending best wishes.....& solidarity, because as you know, I was on a very similar pre-test diet & utterly horrid medicine at the beginning of the week. I didn't get carrots or rich tea biscuits though!
