Beanie I’m just heading to the kitchen. I’ve decided on a lemon drizzle, Delia’s ginger and lemon, Bakewell tart, a chocolate traybake with chocolate on top to keep it moist, flapjack with nuts and fruit in and a mincemeat cake that I’ve not tried before oh and a gluten and dairy free orange and almond cake. There will 12 of us - all day Saturday and most of Sunday. Our host, who lives alone loves to portion up any leftovers into single portions to freeze. It works well…..the hosts daughter is chief organiser who gets a biiiiggggg shop delivered. It’s usually a buffet Saturday dinner including lots of lovely smoked delicacies that the host smokes himself in his all singing and dancing smoker, bbq Saturday evening followed by marshmallows around a big fire. Breakfast buffet Sunday followed by a pizza feast before we head home Sunday afternoon. We’re going tomorrow and will hopefully have a day in The New Forest before heading over and taking the host out to a meal. Not sure exactly what Friday will hold and then we will help put gazebos up Saturday morning before the masses arrive…..I’ll be in a supervisory roll of course 😂😂 - we all muck in together. We’ll stay in Millie, ds will stay in the house as will the host - everyone else is in tents. I’m hoping the showers forecast for weekend are short and sweet.Right best make a start 🍰🍰🍰January spends - £587.581

I’m absolutely done in. Standing in the kitchen, even though I sat as much as I could has messed my hip, ankle and around my middle. I really do need to loose some weight to help things. I know it won’t cure things but it can’t do any harm.My hero DH has just…….drum roll…….FOUND MY TOOTH 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
It was playing hide and seek with me yesterday whilst I lifted every item on the bathroom window ledge except the one it was hiding behind. I thought that’s where I’d left it. However the sneaky little wotsit had fallen off the window ledge onto the sink behind a pump soap dispenser. Dh was wiping some of his splashes after washing when he came in from work and there they were laughing at him 😂😂😂 I’ve wiped around the sink in front of the soap but not lifted it up. I’m actually pleased it didn’t turn up in some obscure place. He threatened to put it on a string so I don’t loose it again 😂😂I’m very pleased I don’t need to go gummy tomorrow visiting dds in laws. The pub we go to is a very well to do country pub and I always feel like the poor relation (I’ve no need to and it’s me, because I’ve never been made to feel like that) so I really didn’t want to go with a gaping gap in the front of my mouth. I can smile with ease now 😀January spends - £587.580 -
We’ve just been reminiscing 😁 the chocolate cake I made uses evaporated milk. There was some left so we’ve had a coffee with it in, as I didn’t want to waste it. It got us talking about Sunday teatime and we always had tinned peaches with Carnation. If there was any milk left the following day when there was just my mum and myself in….it was our treat to have coffee, carnation and if we were very lucky cake. A girls treat 😂😂. Dh didn’t have it in his house but it was definitely a Sunday ritual at ours.
The conversation made me think about our meals then compared to now……think I know why I’ve put weight on 😳January spends - £587.580 -
We always had Carnation milk and peaches on a Sunday as a treat , or one of the syrup puddings that you cooked in the tin, with homemade custard .Glad you can smile again, good old DH saving the day. Enjoy your break away.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.1

We had carnation too….it would be a standard tin between 4 of us and usually it would be on tinned mix fruit or maybe apple pie. If we had Heinz treacle sponge that would be between 4 as well with custard, no wonder no one was fat back then! Not to mention all the miles and miles we walked without thinking about it….only dad had the car and we wouldn’t have dared ask for frivolous lifts 🤣Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Yes the tinned sponge pudding did 4 in our house too. I’ve not had one of those for years but can’t imagine it doing 4 of us 😳 I preferred the chocolate one to the treacle….I used to scrape the treacle off….detested it. I still don’t like treacle sponge or sticky toffee pudding.January spends - £587.580

Great news the missing tooth has turned up 🥳
I remember my mum boiling those tinned sponge puddings for what seemed like hours. We used to have Devon cream custard with ours - I wonder if you can still get it?Have a lovely day tomorrow at the posh country pub.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
