I used to love Dream Topping when I was a kid. My mum used it to make trifle and it was the only bit I’d eat, hated the rest, especially the sponge finger base, used to drive my mum nuts 😆

I used to only eat the dream topping on a trifle too. Hated the texture of the sponge in jelly….still do. If I make trifle now I put chocolate sponge with white rum sprinkled onto it in custard then use a cherry or blackcurrant jelly once the custard has set. Cream on top with cherries and a crumbled flake to top 👍 Now there’s an idea if we have a get together next year as we’ve just had.
We had a great weekend barring the journey there. It usually takes around an hour and a half to pass Birmingham on t’motorway…..3 hours in and we hadn’t even touched it, never mind passed it 😳 We came off and drove through the city to a different motorway and changed our route. We didn’t have time to visit The New Forest as planned so had a long break at a lovely service station with a farm shop, nipped to a supermarket to stock up on some drinks to take with us. It was 6.30 by the time we reached our destination and we’d left home at 10.45. We had a lovely meal in posh country pub that was virtually full last year….there were 6 people in this year….sadly….a sign of the times as the food was just as good.
Friday we had a visit to a NT place after helping the host put gazebos up to shelter us from the rain that had been forecast over the weekend. I’m so pleased we had them or we’d have been very, very wet as we had some spectacular showers. Lots of food was consumed. All the cake went down well and the host was very happy with a box of leftover assorted cake, all portioned for his convenience 😂😂 There were several very animated games of Yahtzee. I spent a lot of time with the gks - especially the younger one who wasn’t quite of an age for the competitive dice game 😂😂 We did some serious colouring.
Back to reality today. I’ve already had a consultation with the stoma nurse talking  through the process I’m having in a couple of weeks. I’ll be pleased when it’s over and done with and I have the results. I’ve managed to keep it on the back burners as I’ve been very busy but it’s coming towards the forefront now. I’ve got an appointment with the hip consultant later. In between I’m having a bit of a pottering in the garden and catching up on tv sort of day. I need to nip to Morrison’s or Aldi later for a few bits, but there is no housework to do as I left it in tip top condition 👍
I need to look at finances. Dh managed to loose his credit card…..we think it was when he bought ice cream at the NT place. He has checked the account and that was the last transaction so nobody has used it. He has cancelled and ordered a new card. I ended up buying a tank of diesel for our journey home but will pay the card from our account in he uses  rather than our account that I use. I have spent lots of money recently and will be curbing it in after this week as I have a couple of things planned and 2 close birthdays Thursday and Friday.
All the socialising has resulted in a 4 lb gain in 4 days 😳….when will i learn. Soooooo
breakfast - porridge with raspberries but I need to do some shopping before I decide on any further meals.

I never put sponge in trifle, fruit yes but definitely no sponge, why spoil a good trifle?

If we go again RS …..that’s what we will do. Go later in the year when there are no midges and we can see the stars. It wasn’t properly dark until nearly midnight whilst we were on Skye.
