    Ooh that’s a beauty!

Ignoring the many many potatoes  and tomatoes (we eat a lot of them) we’ve grown 4 very decent sized pumpkins. A few cucumbers, lettuce and all the other usual very simple low maintenance bits and pieces.

Hoping to actually sort the plot proper this time ready to start fresh and ready with an actual plan come spring time.

  • Well that was a long 12 days.

Went home last weekend and helped my mother clear out the office in her house on the weekend. It was packed to the brim full of stuff all the way to the door. We did a really good job but i was so tired and the trains were sketchy getting home. Certainly didn't feel rested

This weeks been busy as well, i took over my OH's business when she passed away and it's been a lot of getting ready for Christmas, prepping stock, labelling etc. I tell you though some people need to learn how to ask for discounts. As a rule we price by weight so there are a range of prices for items, but this week alone I've had two people ask for discounts of 40% and 90% respectively and that last one was properly rude. I told him i couldn't do a discount of that magnitude and he said " so I heard that as yes". Most people are lovely but guys, and it's always guys who hear me say no and go "i heard yes" or "everyone negotiates" or "sorry (insert child name) the lady won't let you have two" can go get in the bin.

I was brought up that if i couldn't afford it i couldn't buy it.

I’ve never heard of  ‘I heard that as a yes’.
    That’s unbelievable.
Just like on our local FB pages where some people expect things for nothing & no please or thank you.

  • @beanielou It does seem to have gotten worse of late, I'm much more likely to swap or barter with friends now than use facebook marketplace etc. I've done well on my work social group as well getting hold of or gifting items to others.

It's actually very few people who are that bad and i try not to let it get to me but I'm not always as resilient as I'd like.

  • Well i had a huge list of things to do on Saturday and my body just noped. Did my in town stuff hit 2 banks, set up my banking app etc. Got back in the house around 4pm sat down with a cup of tea and woke up at 23:44 with a cold cup of tea and an angry rabbit because I'd missed his evening feed  :disappointed:

Sunday I had birthday bowling and a meal out which was good but did stop me from picking the list up again still i did finally break down the huge pallet in the garden. I've gotten so used to it when i looked out the kitchen window this morning i panicked and thought someone had nicked something because it wasn't there.

People are so rude and cheeky. I just accept that if something is that price, it’s that price. Maybe I’m just naive.

I’ve just broken down some old fence panels. It’s very cathartic isn’t it?

  • @twinklie certainly for a bigger item we might do a discount, i never mind people asking but there is an art to it asking for more than 5-10% is a lot.

Well I really did make up for the weekend on Tuesday. My friend who has been house clearing with me wasn't well and so had to cancel, so i decided to tackle the garage on my own. 11.5 hours of clearing later it's a whole different ball game i can actually get at boxes to sort one by one. I can also access my ladder, house tools and garden tools. This will make such a difference.

I also filled the skip bag and had it collected without getting charged again.

Just a huge load of cardboard that needs dealing with now, I might be able to take it to the tip myself soon I had no idea i could book someone to bring a new car battery to my house and fit it, so that should be happening on Sunday morning. Then it needs an MOT.

    Bring on the weekend.

  • @beanielou I have :D i'd quite like to be a lie down bee for a bit, but equally I'm desperate to get through this intense sorting phase and into just maintenance tasks (i.e. cleaning and gardening etc).
