Thanks Savingholmes I know it is a compromise but this house does feel like it is giving us a lot more plus perfect easy option with nothing to do. Earthgirl2 I really do hope we get some good news soon I could really do with it as the investments keep falling.

I had a fight with the finance company on Friday as I had still not heard anything. Honestly I cannot wait to leave them. For now the investments will be moved into safer options I did at one point get told to move them into cash and then no not to put them into cash it is all a bit of a mess with the markets. Hopefully this way it will settle down soon or the idiot might back down on some of the tarifs. I am going to try not to think about it although I did suggest to my mum she considers moving her investments.

I am going to have to take all the PB money out and also my cash ISA but cannot be helped if I want to buy the house. It seems really mean that you are going to have £290K sat in an account for 6 months without earning any interest but guess that is the rule for this way of buying. Danish bank account is sorted so that is good news too and was really easy to do.

We had a great day out with our friend and her lovely dog on Saturday it was fantastic weather too so we sat on the beach and had some wine before going to a dog friendly cafe for dinner. It was quite pricey but at least the drinks alfresco saved quite a bit of money.

Sunday I got some gardening done, we sorted the hot tub so it will be lovely to get into the clean water tonight I do still need to balance hot tub for water hardness.

We did get a lot of xmas decs decluttered and sorted into proper storage I have also ordered some more boxes so all the decorations can be sorted and take up less space. We did say we would reduce the loft by 1/2. I did find a suitcase with some clothes I cannot fit into anymore and I really do not know if I should just give it away or keep if I lose weight. I am so tempted to just dump it all. We find one bag to charity which should be collected Tuesday otherwise it can go to the local charity shop although they are fussy about taking donations these days. Maybe the tip shop is better.

I also got some knitting down but I really need to get the other cardigan sewed together so I can start using it. No sewing done and club tonight is cancelled but it is on the next two Mondays so that is good.

Finally DG has now been told the court mistake has be rectified so her hearing is back on on Thursday which is insane as it does not give enough time to prepare so she is having to ask for it to be postponed again. Honestly you could not make it up.

    Right back to work.

Glad its all moving on the Danish side, that court stuff sounds v stressful for DG. Be fantastic for you to own a home outright and cash in the bank, far less stressful.

Ouch to the s&s ISA drop - yes I would hold out as long as possible for liquidating Stocks right now, it will bounce back but could be hairy few months... Luckily when Truss crashed the markets  we could get her out, not so easy in the US.

At least for us in Europe/UK we tend to invest worldwide not just US, whereas many US investors have most their 401ks just in the S&P500  and the US economy -  so our losses are generally a bit less. I saw a person pictured marching in the US this weekend with a sign where their 401k had been crossed out and  201k written large

Just looked at my Vanguard S*S (down  nearly £5k in last 3 months so 20%) and went to look at my larger SIPP which was bad enough last week but the Vang  website is crashing so not giving any info nor able to buy £100.. obviously loads people looking at the damage caused..
I have a few thousand waiting to be invested - its in cash at present in there but drip fed a bit in last week Monday and Friday but will maybe add a few hundred every few days..

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks LWAP and Earthgirl really nice of you both to comment. Drip feeding is the best option in uncertain times so I feel ok about my pension its more the ISA I want to use for the house buying. At least I took £8K out of my other S&S ISA and moved it into a cash ISA earlier in the year for that I am actually grateful now. The crappy financial advisers should have moved my investments but yesterday was a nightmare day on the markets so who knows what they managed to do. I am not even going to log into my account and see. He said they would start it Friday so who knows. I know I have lost £4K since I decided I needed the money for the house I wish I had not waited for an appointment with them I should just have advised myself. Still it is what it is.

No progress on house negotiations but she is working on it. Also no call to say our buyers have sold so lets hope they get some more viewings soon. They do say Easter is a great time to sell.

DG worked until 9pm last night and started work at 6am today. I am doubt she will make gym tonight I will go as I bailed out of yesterday's class.

I did do a bit of gardening last night and some knitting but we really need to move all those boxes in our spare room as our friends are staying on Saturday.

Well you could not make it up DG got everything done for this court case and now it has been adjourned. So annoying but it is what it is she still needed to do the work so that is good in a way and she has more time to negotiate.

I have got someone to collect my Christmas Decs so that is nice and a vase they also wanted so that is cool too.

I did look at my investments and the drop is £26K so that is a lot and I am now below where I ideally wanted to be for buying the house. I really hope they have managed to move some of the investments out of my funds as I looked and its 41% invested in the US. It is still £4K up on what I put in but my god hindsight is a wonderful thing but that is investing and that is why it is a long term thing.

My DS told me his pension has gone down by 10% since Friday.  It is a good job he is still in lower 40s.

Yes Badmemory it is handy when you are younger and I am not too worried about mine. I am starting to feel a bit rubbish about our plans to buy before we sell because of all the stuff that is going on in the world. However when I spoke to my mum about it she just said well you are not having to borrow the money and pay interest so what is the concern. Maybe I should just hold onto the goal of getting back to Denmark and enabling DG to step away from the stressful work. Seeing her working all those hours and the rollercoaster of emotions as things changed daily is definitely stress we can both do without. Now that her case has been adjourned who knows how long before it gets heard but it was probably for the best even if she did get everything done for the deadline that was 1 1/2 days.

My work had confirmation of our restructure target and it has just got worse in terms of who will lose their jobs. I am pleased that I have a solid plan B and 1st October I will have been at this job 6 years imagine if that because the day they make be redundant, 6 months pay here I come I would not mind that at all.

I did go to the gym last night so that is a  o:) for me lol. Tonight we are going to sort more Xmas decs but the clothes and the other xmas decs all left the house yesterday so that was so good.

    Right back to work

Thanks Daisy yes it has gone quickly that 6 years in my current organisation, we were still living in London when I got the job I was in a rough place and the job was really not me. The people were lovely but the job did not suit my skillset so grateful I got into this job 18 months later.

Bit of an update on our new house, final offer is £5100 less than the asking price but we do get the washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave as part of the deal. Houses do not increase by a lot in Denmark so this is to be expected really. We have also seen the reports there are a few minor issues but no mentioned of the gas boiler or the ventilation system so I have asked more about this as there is no mention of this in the reports. I have also asked if we can get a quote to see how much it would cost us to set up the office with electrics. We also need to know exactly how much we need to pay each stage but looks like bills and taxes for the house would be £300 a month that does not incl water, sewerage and electric. It is £4K to put on solar panels which we might do. It is nice to leave things to the professionals as we have enough other crap to get on with.

DG is back to hating golf so we have booked for Easter to go and get a lesson with our Pro in London hopefully that will help. I am getting a bit tired of it I think it is just stress with work but we shall see. Got our friends coming to stay tomorrow so need to sort out the rooms.

Hope you have a lovely Thursday almost the weekend.
