It's good that you are finding out exactly what you will need to pay over there and can really start to plan. I'm sorry your DG is under so much stress at work. I left a stressful job 13 years ago and we bought a house up here, cheaper than Cheshire prices, and I've never once regretted the decision to move. Good luck to you both, it's exciting and stressful so take care EG xSave £20,000 in 2025. April 2k, May 3.5k3

Thanks Earthgirl sounds like you made the right move life really is too short to have all that stress. I know it is affected DG physically as well so the sooner we get out of it the better really.
It is also stressful with work although I have my plan it is constantly rubbish meeting and presentation from people who are just not good at their jobs or are in the wrong jobs. It is very frustrating and I keep thinking we are all going to go which is sad for the people I work with and the people who need us. Anyway not for me to decide so just glad I have a plan.
Sent my mum the survey and the reports yesterday for the house and we had a chat about it. She thinks it all looks good but thinks the seller should sort the electrics out at their cost because they wont reduce the price. I do not really understand what is wrong with the electrics it is only a couple of things anyway. Still not heard back from our lawyers hopefully next week but again we are not in a rush. I have told them we are away so hopefully all the signing of the documents and the moving of the money can be done when we are back. Gives more time for the markets to recover. My mum is not phased by it she says not to panic and says she's not even looked. One good thing about their tax system is you get a tax rebate if your investments lose money but you do pay when they gain as they have no ISA's or PB.
Just have to be patient with everything and try to work through it. We have friends coming to stay which we have not seen for absolutely ages so that will be nice. We did get a lot more stuff sorted in the loft last night a whole bin of stuff thrown out (well bin is full) and loads of empty boxes which is great. One bedroom is sorted but the other needs a few things taken of it.
We have booked a golf lesson with our old pro for DG hopefully that will put her back on the right track over Easter until then she will not play. Did not make gym also annoying if she did quit she would need another gym as the golf club one is just super expensive on its own with out golf.
Need to sort our renewal of our membership out we get 6 free green fee tickets if we renew annually which also saves 6% but it is until May next year so unless they give a refund for the last few months we are a bit screwed up really.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Plan to move to Denmark for FIRE by Autumn 2025 “May your decisions reflect your hopes not your fears”

Morning a bit of a later start for us as we watched The Masters last night my god it was exciting to watch.
Friday we had our friends over Friday which was really nice and they brought an M&S indian meal (one always wants to get a take away so that was an improvement. They stayed over and we had a really nice chat and time together we had not seen them since before Christmas. They will definitely come to Denmark.
Saturday we did not do a lot I got some gardening done and DG got some bras so all good. With the weightloss the old ones really did not fit her and we so uncomfortable. Sunday I played golf in a comp and I WON. I played the best I have ever played so I was just super pleased. £15 on my account so that means no fees for a while for comps. I have also sold a pair of golfshoes on Vinted so they can go out today. Bins are full from the last decluttering will hopefully do more during the week.
House move is moving forward quite quickly but I feel it is too quick as it means getting the money out before we leave for Turkey which seems really soon. My money is currently £11K down which is not nice at all. I do not see the massive rush plusan almost but better property about 10 min away has come on the market. Sadly there will be built houses all around it but nothing has been done in the last 14 years so who knows. Speaking to our lawyers in an hour so that is good we can get some answers. The sellers have not had their boiler serviced in 5 years and do not seem bothered about it. Strange people.
Tonight is gym then straight to sewing club so will be a bit hectic but right I do need to do some work.
Have a lovely Monday short week this one.Save £12k in 25 No 49

God talk about pressure the Danish sellers now wants us to sign before Wednesday or they list it. They also want the money locked in the safe account by 12th May which is smack bang when we are on holiday. Really not impressed because it means pulling my investments out today or tomorrow, and my mum doing the same.
The agent for the house I linked to above has emailed asking if we want to view it so I have said yes it if its still around by the time I come over.
Anyway fun times ahead, cancelled gym I just have not got the headspace.Save £12k in 25 No 49

I would advise....take a step back. Breathe for a moment. How much do you want this house? If its perfect in at least one but preferably more of location, floorplan, condition, garden, direction for sunlight etc then maybe go ahead. If not, wait till it goes on the market, you can still view it and put an offer in then. Dont let yourself get rushed by their deadlines into something you might regret? If you do, you can basically add £11grand onto the price of the house compared to the figures you've been looking at up till now. That might make it less attractive?
Also, I don't want to be the proverbial damp squib....but..... You might want to wait a bit longer, let your investments recover a little ? 11grand is a big loss to crystalise right now when you aren't even sure your house is sold. It might still be a good idea to get sold up here, then rent or get a motorhome/caravan or something when you get over there to give yourself time to properly look at areas and houses? DW hasn't been physically in Denmark an awful lot I think? She won't be familiar with areas and even for you you've not been living there for a long time. Its a lot for her to buy a house kind of sight unseen, no?

Great comments from DaisyMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Thanks guys really lovely to come on here and read your comments I am feeling exactly that I have being pressured and I just want to say just put it on the bloody market then if you are that desperate. We have just had another look and there really is nothing else in the area we would like to be unless we start looking at another completely different areas. My sister has suggested one but it is 50 min from her what is the point in that. Funnily enough a house we liked very near my sister has come up unfortunately it does not have room for an office otherwise who knows. My mum said the same thing just push back but right now our adviser is trying to get it over the line and get me to sign but with a delayed payment so I can cash in after I have viewed and I can still pull out at that point which is at least better. I want to know what it means that I can pull out is there any penalties etc for doing so. My mum said we can wait we do not have to find something right now. DG does refuse to rent full stop due to the cats and we have both moved so many times in London we really cannot face that again especially with us both working from home. In terms of renting you are looking at about £1000 to £1500 a month but there are only 4 rental properties right now and all says no to animals so actually not that cheap to rent and not a lot around as we cannot go into a small flat or something.
If they cannot delay the payment dates then we are out and DG does not even want to view it. Lets see what happens but really thank you both for your comments I really appreciated it when I read it this morning. Daisy the campervan idea would be lovely but think about the cats and the working from home sadly not practical lol.
Today I have my usual team meeting and then next step in the restructure. I am not looking forward to that meeting and I know it will just be rubbish but still got to do it.
In other nicer news posted my Vinted packaged, went to sewing club and had a nice time making new friends which is actually really lovely and something I will miss.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Well done for not being pressured.
I'm sure in one way this move will be a lot harder due to going abroad but in others it will be a lot easier as I'm assuming you will be taking a minimum of stuff with you? So much in this country just won't look right or be right in the houses you've been looking at? It will be lovely to discard and start again fresh on your new life together with things you've both picked rather than brought forward from old lives. I'm feeling quite envious this morning

Quick update we have said no let them list it the clincher was that if we sign the agreement and then pull out we need to pay £800 for the legal document. Well that is not MSE just because you are in a hurry so let them go ahead. Also we are looking to change my flight so we can both go together later in the Summer and look again properly. Right now I think we need a breather we have learnt a lot and understand the process a lot better now so that is all good. Next time a property comes up we can swoop in quickly as we now know what is needed.
As for starting afresh it does sound like a lovely idea but that is kind of what we did for this house 5 years ago and we picked all out together. We are not taking the bigger things but Danes have strange mattresses and we love our sideboard and our upcycled pieces.
Anyway must get back to work thanks again for letting me have the headspace when I come on here.Save £12k in 25 No 49
