Morning all, happy May 😎
Finally an uneventful day and night 🥳 No mishaps apart from his panic when he mislaid his lip balm (it had rolled under the bed).Yesterday after lunch I spent time chilling on a sun bed with my book while Mr SA slept and watched TV.It’s not as hot here as it is in the UK at the moment as there’s a breeze and clouds keep blowing over but it’s nice enough to sit out in and there’s no humidity so it’s not sweaty. You need a light jacket at night but then you often do here.We enjoyed a nice drink in a very popular and cheap bar where seats are like gold dust. It was just €6.30 for a large beer and a very large pink gin and tonic. Then we tried a new place to eat which was also nice and very reasonably priced. So the whole night out was less than €45.
The plan today is to go to the old town and harbour and have lunch there before relaxing later.
I can’t just get up and flop on a sun bed like a lot here do. I need to walk to earn my flop 😆
The breakfast room is lovely and if you want a cooked breakfast they do it to order. I was enjoying my plate of fresh fruit when the waiter asked me what I wanted for breakfast. I said this fruit is my breakfast, he seemed shocked I was happy with just that 😆 I can honestly say I’ve never had a full English breakfast in my life and have never wanted to either. The coffee is lovely as they have some Nespresso machines. Mr SA is happy with his toast but is going to ask for bacon today as he spotted some brown sauce and baguettes yesterday 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
Aw glad everything is now going enjoyably, have a lovely walk and flop2

We are like you. We don't do sitting around sun bathing all day, we have to be up and about doing something
Enjoy your day. It sounds lovely.2 -
We are now back at the hotel after our trip to the old town and harbour. Mr SA is about to have his siesta while I sunbathe.A few photos of today. We’ve been here so many times I feel I’m always taking photos of the same thing though 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

Love the flower pots arranged out on the steps. I want steps now, just so I can have interesting flower pots on them!

Your photos look lovely and sorry about the "accident" with Mr SA. It sounds like he needs some investigations when you get home.
It would be so good if you got some respite through Mr SA accepting care from someone else as this must be so difficult for you. I know that DD is not particularly hands on with him but getting some help from social services (stretched as they are) might be worth investigating again when you get home. Is even a weekend or few days away on your own a possibility?
I think it is incredibly unfair you probably do not qualify for carers allowance in view of the number of hours you must spend clearing up after him. It may get more difficult as he gets older so getting things in place asap for if you are unable to care for him would be sensible.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
