Could you go part time?
I need to find something to do that doesn’t involve Mr SA. I used to have regular catch ups with friends but they’ve gone quiet of late 🙁I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Forgot to say Mr SA has told DS that I’m doing an Easter buffet tomorrow when he comes with the GKs. I hadn’t planned this at all 🙁 He is a blooming loose cannon 🤬I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Join a walking group SA. I joined a U3a one shortly after retirement then a ramblers one. It got me fitter (I know you are probably already fit) but it gave me the social group I missed after leaving work. Now I have settled into retirement if I want to do something I will regardless of whether there is someone who wants to come with me. So I joined the U3a theatre group and one of my walking friends had an E bike so we go on bike rides together. If I want to do a NT visit or coastal walk and no friend available I go alone and quite enjoy not having to make plans to suit others. There are lots of groups out there whatever you are interested in. Some of my friends sing in Rock Choir. A number of us do fitness classes at our local gym or aquacise.I do drive though so accept some of that may not work for you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I wonder if there's a carers' association or similar where you could meet with people in a similar situation and provide mutual support? I think getting out of the house and seeing other people will be all-important for you.
Or how about something like going to fitness or dance classes with friends (even if you make the friends through the classes)?
Would another option be continuing in work beyond retirement? Even if it was minimal hours or some sort of training or on-call/bank staff (I don't know how it works in your sector but I think you have loads of experience and your work will miss you when you go - and you could put the extra cash towards holidays).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. You have a healthy active lifestyle so maybe a walking group is something that could add a social aspect? If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Happy April 🐣
Thank you for all your comments and suggestions 😊 I do plan to join U3A when I retire, I’ve already told Mr SA I don’t want to be stuck in with him every day or taking him everywhere with me. I’d love to join a walking group, although not having a car might be a disadvantage. Not sure about part time working, maybe charity work 🤔
Anyway I have 4 years of work left so will start planning something nearer the time.Did my usual ClubFit class this morning then went to the big Mr T. Clocked up 15,000 steps so exercise goal hit. Mr SA brought the dog down so she had a good walk too.DS and the GKs came just after lunch so Easter eggs have been picked up. DD had forgotten about it being Easter next week so I had to buy a couple of eggs for her to give the GKs. She’s paid me back anyway.Lovely and quiet at the moment as Mr SA has gone for his nap. He was falling asleep while DS was here.Tonight’s dinner is Moroccan style veggie burger with salad. Not tried these particular burgers before, they were reduced in Lid! so thought I’d give them a try. Prosecco has been chilling in the fridge since first thing 🥂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
This was the dog sleeping behind my pillow when I woke up this morning. This is where the young cat usually sleeps, the dog only did this to spite her 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10
