Morning all, happy Sunday. What a miserable wet morning, it’s been raining all night, at least that’s saved me watering the garden.I need to combine dog walking with dropping off the soft plastic recycling at the big Mr T later this morning when it looks like there’s going to be a dry spell.Going to plod on with hanging up the winter clothes. Anything that I think not this old thing again will go in the charity bag, I’m only keeping things I love.Cleaning is the kitchen and bathroom. Plus steam mopping all the floors. Also on the to do list is meal plan for the rest of the month and make a batch of soup for work lunches. Tonight’s dinner is the smoked basa, pearl barley and leek recipe I like.I’ve scheduled a stretching session in for 4.30 on the FitOn app so will do that before I have a bath.I’m going to make time to watch something on my iPad while I paint my nails later. There are loads of programmes I’d like to watch but Mr SA doesn’t so I’ve made a list. I only watch TV for around an hour a night and it’s mainly what Mr SA wants to watch. It’s a constant battle trying to get him to watch anything different and he panics if I take the remote from him even for a few seconds. He also has the sound on barely audible and says it’s my hearing. It’s not as DS has also commented on the volume being so low. It’s annoying when you’re trying to watch something and you can’t catch what they’re saying.I’m giving my nails a rest from the gel polish for a couple of weeks but will have them done again for the work awards ceremony in London which is less than 2 weeks away 😱 Which reminds me I need to sort an outfit for that. It says no dress code but to bear in mind it’s an awards ceremony. I have a lovely top I haven’t worn yet but might need to buy some smart trousers, could also do with some comfortable ankle boots. Both will do me for work afterwards or going out so won’t be just for the awards.Started reading a new book about witches called Weyward by Emilia Hart and loving it so far.In garden news picked a courgette and some tomatoes yesterday. Plus celebrating that I’ve managed to keep my Poinsettia alive for almost a year 🥳I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Well done on that poinsettia. I have never managed to keep one alive after the initial festive period.

Interesting about the TV volume: do you think Mr SA really can hear it so low? And was he always like this? I'm becoming very aware of differences in sensory processing as DH and I are very different in what we hear and curiously, in how things smell to us, too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. If you are actually watching the TV have you considered putting the subtitles on. It might annoy him sufficiently to put the volume up a little. I say actually watching because I tend to have mine on when I am doing something which isn't really engaging my brain.

The low TV volume is since the brain damage. When he watches TV in the bedroom he has the volume on even lower. He also has a heightened sense of smell he didn’t have before and is easily irritated by scented items.I got loads done today unfortunately not the TV catch up on my iPad as ran out of time.Took 2 bin bags of clothes to the CS before I changed my mind. DD has now added 2 bags of clothes to be taken on another day.Re-thinking the tumble dryer, I’m wondering whether I’d be better with a combined washer/dryer as it could go in the space where the washing machine is. The washing machine is ancient and will need replacing soon anyway. Something to consider.Made a batch of carrot, coriander and butterbean soup for work lunches and have meal planned until the end of the month.Due to the bad weather Mr SA has spent most of the day watching TV and snoozing in bed. Unbelievably he’s just said tonight won’t be a late one as he’s shattered! It’s a hard life!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

I thought about a combined washer drier but I remember my mother having them & they never lasted anywhere near as long as my wahing machines did. We did discuss if this was caused by the fact that she had floorboards & I have always had mine on solid floors. I will need replacements for both soon. The tumbledrier was a gift & needs the hose putting out of the window (or not!) so I would replace by condenser if not a combined model. Decisions decisions. I never realised how difficult it could be when you don't have someone who can put real input into these - even if you never agree.

My mum also had a combined washer dryer & it was none too good.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Combined are not meant to be anywhere near as good and the kg load for the dryer part is very small compared to separateMFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

Thank you for the feedback. It’s good to know when deciding on something. I’ll keep looking and considering. Had to get the heated airer out today to finish off the partly dried from yesterday duvet cover.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
