DD is still in A&E but in a ward waiting to be admitted to the gastrointestinal ward. She hasn’t seen a doctor yet so nothing to update.Mr SA wants to come with me to visit but I’ve put my foot down for several reasons:
It would mean having to get a taxi when it’s actually quicker as well as a fraction of the cost to go on the bus. Then I would have the faff of trying to find a wheelchair for him once we got there.
He knows there’s a C0sta there and that’s probably the only reason he wants to go 😐
I would value some time away from him even if it is to visit a hospital. He’ll be fine on his own for a couple of hours. She’ll let me know when she’s on a proper ward and if she wants me to visit. The weather doesn’t look great for this afternoon so need to take the dog out and get the washing in shortly. I was hoping to get some gardening done today but looks like it might have to be plan B of putting away winter clothes and getting summer ones out.Mr SA’s new scooter hasn’t arrived in the shop yet so waiting for that. At least he still has the old one.I might have a walk down to the big Mr T with the soft plastic recycling later as it would save me a job tomorrow. Plus it will get some steps in.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10 -
I hope your DD gets a 'proper bed' and a visit from the doctor soon.
The non-arrival of the scooter sounds like a good way to get Mr SA to stay in: 'Suppose they ring up about your scooter?' Meanwhile you get a couple of hours away.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

You’d think they would have fast tracked DD to the ward allowing for how recent her discharge is and that the issue still seems to be the same one. It hadn't occurred to me but a couple of people have suggested that perhaps some of your daughter's focus on getting meals brought, @Sun_Addict, and some of the other stuff, was an attempt to make light of it and stop you worrying. Of course, being a mum, you are going to worry. Going for a walk to take the plastic recycling is a good idea and time for you.
Holding on for progress soon xI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

So sorry to hear your DD is back in hospital and it sounds like they discharged her too early. As others have said maybe she was focusing on the food to make light of the seriousness of her condition. Only you will know whether that is true but she is in the right place now and at least you are home and able to visit her. I agree you should leave Mr SA at home if you go in and make life as easy for yourself as possible. He will just have to lump it.
Doing things for yourself is critical as you seem to be carrying everyone in your family with some help from your DS. Not sure you should be putting winter clothes away just yet. It is sunny here at the moment but the forecast isn't great and it still seems a bit chilly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Oh dear, @Sun_Addict - I was so sorry to hear that you spent most of your holiday in a state of worry & now here you are again with everyone to care for & worry about. I was sorry to learn that your daughter is back in hospital - obviously the best place for her, as they can't have properly established the issue if it has reared its head again so soon after being discharged.
It must be so difficult with Mr SA not grasping these stressful situations. I'm sure I'd have been tempted to clump him around the earhole if he'd asked me to fetch some beer with so much worrying stuff going on. I have no experience of of brain-injured people, but I am thinking that the parts of the interconnecting synapses which are responsible for things like empathy probably get damaged & make the expected responses to difficult emotional/emergency situations less likely. I think I would find that very trying, although of course, it is also unfair for Mr SA that he had a serious illness with life-changing impacts - life-changing for you too, of course. It must feel so difficult at times. I think getting some time for yourself, however you do it, is important for your own mental health. I would run a mile from spa days - it's just not my thing at all, but anything....visiting a friend, having a solo shopping trip, going to see a film, anything where you can just have some non-working time to yourself. I feel I want to suggest something helpful, but never having been in a similar position, it is difficult to know what to suggest. I suppose just being able to come onto your diary & express your frustration with the situation anonymously is at least a small outlet for just how limiting things are feeling at the moment. At least you know we all listen.

Thank you all, I do appreciate your kind comments. It definitely makes me feel better getting it off my chest.DD is now on a proper ward. She’s had morphine for stomach pain so she did sound a bit out of it. She claims to be fine, apparently I’m stressing about nothing! This may have been the morphine talking though. She’s insisting there’s nothing to worry about 😐I doubt there’ll be any developments over the bank holiday weekend. At least she’s on a ward and being looked after.I haven’t got much done today. I’ve felt a bit out of sorts. I tried to do a bit of gardening but it started raining. Didn’t get the summer clothes out either, weather was too dire. I have finished the last of the unpacking though. My monthly beauty box subscription arrived today and it’s lovely, contents more than worth the £13.25 I pay, it always cheers me up. Will have to hide the Sol de Janeiro cream from DGD tomorrow as that’s on her list of must have beauty products.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10

Hey SA - glad DD on a proper ward now - what a worry for you am so sorry she is going through that.
i meant to ask you before all this happened how you found pto del Carmen this time around? We are going this summer and am concerned about the anti tourist sentiment the papers have been making so much of lately. I did think of cancelling but we would lose our deposit. We did have a run in with a local man our last trip - he followed us around grocery store shouting at us and it was a little scary. I speak a bit of espanol so understood what was being said but it didn’t make a lot of sense. And we were nearly taken out a couple few times on crosswalks. Had to make a run for it as the cars were not slowing never mind stopping.Lancashire

@SuzeQStan no problem at all with the anti tourists thing. All the locals were lovely and extremely friendly. They always stopped at the crossings too. The media are getting it all wrong, surprise, surprise. The locals have a beef with their government letting tourists buy up property to rent out and pricing them out of the market. Exactly the same as happens here in popular holiday areas. There’s a shortage of affordable rental properties for this reason and it’s forcing them further away from where they work.So please don’t cancel your holiday on the strength of the media. The same media who call all civil servants lazy when they WFH 😡 I’m a civil servant and can assure you everyone I work with works very hard even from home.Don’t forget without tourists they’d all be out of work. You’ll be welcomed with open arms.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9
