I'm glad there's finally something happening! A lot may depend on the layout of your house: my parents got grab rails, particularly at the top of the stairs where there was a turn then one further step. If you don't already have shower grab rails, that might be suggested/fitted, similarly with access around any steps. I'm afraid the physio side of it might be subject to him complying, but at least you now know you are on their radar.

That sounds like a good outcome - that  referral is being put in place is a clear acknowledgement that there is a problem, anyway.

At last. The OT assessments for my mum got loads of useful stuff done, a 2nd bannister, grab rails for doorways, bathrooms and outside too, commodes and toilet surrounds and things for raising chairs. Most useful thing of all was a trolley/table with a recess to allow it to double as a walking aid. It meant mum could carry her cups of tea and her general daily clutter around but keep both hands free to help her walk. Most of it free in our area. A little silly as we did not need it free although others do but perhaps its just too cumbersome to operate a means test/payment system for relatively low cost items.

The old lady who used to live across the road from me had one of these. It’s like a rollator but with a tray.

We’ve already been down this route in the past and he already has several grab rails in place. Plus all the various mobility aids, some of which he sent back a while ago because he decided he didn’t need them 🙄

The GP tried to fob me off at first by saying he hadn’t had a fall since January. I reminded him the falls come in batches and will start off again at some point. Having said that Mr SA has been super careful since the A&E incident but once the better weather comes he’ll be back in the garden falling over.
