  • Oh my goodness, 34 paydays til retirement is exciting and scary! Good idea to get big home things done/saved for beforehand if you can. What are you wanting with the dining room refurb?

Definitely a good idea to have a balance of getting things done ahead of retirement and also making sure you bolster savings as well. 34 paydays sounds like both quite a lot and not very many depending which way you look at it I think!

We also earmark regular savers for specific purposes - the Coventry one was theoretically for the solar this time round to reduce the amount needing to be taken from long term savings. As I haven't gone for that one again I am now trying to work on using the money which would have gone across to it monthly to stash as much for it as possible - with luck we may not need to even touch all the Coventry money!

The ceiling re-plastered, coving removed, new flooring and painting. The walls were re-plastered a few years ago but we didn't bother with the ceiling.
